Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing God...
    Thanks, Giving…
    Shalom!

Today in the United States of America is Thanksgiving Day, a day set aside for families to gather around the dining room table and not only share a meal together but to also remember the blessings they’ve enjoyed over the past year. Last night as we watched Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Sally, Lucy, and friends rehearse the first Thanksgiving. The first thing that became apparent there were no Thanksgiving Day Parades, no NFL Football Games, no glitz and glamor, no early Black Friday sales only a hand full of survivors and some Native American Indians gathered to share in a meal together. And give Thanks to God for the lessons learned from their Red Brothers and Sisters that helped them make a life in the New World.

One of my favorite bible verses comes at the end of Paul’s Letter to the Philippians and it reminds me not only of the life of my family but also the Pilgrims that first winter that took almost half of the people who first touched America and the summer. Paul wrote, “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11–13, ESV)

I have traveled across the Atlantic Ocean by water in the safety of the USS Newman K. Perry DD-883 nearly 300 feet long not like the pilgrims in a 110-foot wooden ship powered by the winds at the mercy of the open sea with its breaker waves. When I think about the 102 passengers on the Mayflower I think about their faith and trust in the LORD, and their hunger to worship God in the way they needed to. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me,” I wonder if Miles Standish read those words to the people in his charge?

This Thanksgiving is a special one for me because it may be my last one and I am more thankful then ever not only for the love of my family and friends but also Thankful to a God who has over the course of my life pulled out all the stops and blessed me beyond my expectations. And like Paul, the Pilgrims, each one reading this and myself, “We can do all things through Him who strengthens us!”

In case you’re not sure about how to really say, “Thank You, God” then let the Psalmist tell you how. “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 100:1–5, ESV)

Happy Thanks, Giving from Patti and Gary Piper!

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in
every situation. The Lord be with you all.” **
    Grace and PEACE,
    Gary
