Why do I have the feeling you'll still be saying that - with the same level of expectant hope - in Trump year 7?

Keep on dreaming the dream, bro.

Trump is not some sort of crafty and competent political actor like Putin who uses his connections and influence to consolidate all of government power under him. Trump is a different type of political actor - the type who's more suited to playing a politician on TV than actually knowing how to be one. He's more likely to drink america's diet coke supply dry than he is to craftily steal political power.
Trump is just a run-of-the-mill fraudster and buffoonish money-launderer for the Russian oligarchs. He'll eventually go down for that once Mueller's people finish poking through his finances. He may or may not do a Nixon and panic and try to fire the special prosecutor. There are more problems with Roy Moore, than his version of sex education. Moore has indicated that he opposes the Constitutional Amendments from 10 on,
Although it is a little amusing that the articles I've seen criticizing his statement, rather than point out actual problems that could occur from a mass repeal, try to act indignant about the removal of something like the 13th amendment, as if any state would actually decide to re-institute slavery as a result. Amendments like that are superfluous at this point, it doesn't matter if they're on the books because any policy that goes against them would be so unpopular it'd never get enacted.
Of course, if not for the 17th Amendment, Roy Moore almost certainly wouldn't have become the Republican nominee (I actually saw someone use his nomination as an argument for the repeal of the 17th Amendment, saying he wouldn't have ever gotten it had senators been chosen as they were originally).
