If you are truly a christian, then you would support the type of government in which taxes are collected in order to care for the poor.
To me, most of you anti-socialist here are pseudo christians, the plight of other less fortunate people really doesn't matter to you, so long as you can pretend to care, or so long as you can get something out of it for yourself, like the good feeling you get when directly and personally helping someone. If you were truly a christian you'd support the kind of government that would exist if Jesus himself were the head of it, not someone like Trump who, along with the republican congress, is still working at throwing 13 million people off of healthcare with his tax cuts for the wealthy policy.I DENOUNCE DONALD J. TRUMP AND ALL HIS IMMORAL ACTS.

Your understanding of the story of the rich young ruler being one example. See, his stuff was holding him back so Jesus told him to cut off the thing that was holding him back. It wasn’t an absolute command for him to be a communist Jimmy and I have already listed out the charities I support through time, money, or both. Beyond preaching at us non basement dwellers that we need to give away everything to support you, what do you do to make your community a better place? I don’t support government welfare for lots of reasons Jimmy among those is the government is inefficient, it creates barriers between neighbors and families, and encourages accountability because you know those who help you and are less likely to screw those you personally know. Sorry Jimmy, but despite your belief, not everyone believes the government is the best giver of charity that exist.Last edited by JimL; 12-14-2017, 09:22 AM.

1. Made them meals and delivered them.
2. Gave them cloths for their kids.
3. Fixed their vehicle for them so they don’t have to pay labor.
4. Babysat their kids, for free.
That’s just in the past month and I haven’t been able to do as much as normal.
Your turn Jimmy, what do you do for your community beyond saying other people need to give away all their stuff?"The man from the yacht thought he was the first to find England; I thought I was the first to find Europe. I did try to found a heresy of my own; and when I had put the last touches to it, I discovered that it was orthodoxy."

But our "Jobs for Life" program, for example, cost the taxpayers nothing, has 92% graduation rate, and 85% successful employment rate of those who graduate. I'll put that up against any government jobs program any day of the week.
So, yeah, it's a pretty good experience for me.
(By the way, I know I'm a racist bigot, but our Jobs for Life students are almost always African-American, and our Church members (mostly white) serve as the volunteers and mentors)The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Jimmy, why don't you work on figuring out whether you're an agnostic, like your faith designation says, or an atheist, which you readily admit. I know, I know.... you think they're the same thing.
Even your colleagues have tried to help you understand that. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Our community has a pretty involved food bank program, employment program, housing program, education program, assistance program.... there are 27 entities working together under one faith based umbrella, and we actually help people go from welfare to employment where they make it on their own. They just need some personal attention and direction.

But, please, do continue to spew forth hate and ignorance. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
