Alien.
- I have a request for you, if you don't mind. Could you explain for me exactly what happened to you that converted you from atheism to monotheism? I read the thread where you converted to Christianity specifically... I'm more interested in your sudden belief in monotheism.
- If you are uncomfortable discussing it here in the open forums, then please feel free to PM me. It's pretty important to me.
- Thanks.

I, for one, hope he does it publicly...I feel a chain reaction coming on! AtheistArchon...if it's important to you, may I suggest you open yourself enough to actually hear and receive what Alien chooses to share with you?
/ot Butting out now.

- If Alien would like to discuss it, then I promise I'll be open to everything he says.
- That goes both ways, however. He knows most or all my tactics, and probably already knows what I'm going to say anyway, so I'm hoping he has already addressed it in his own mind before he converted. (So, technically this should be a very short discussion.)
- I want to refrain from saying anything else for fear of jumping to conclusions... I still don't know exactly what happened in the first place. The journey from monotheist to Christian is but a hop and a skip. I'm more interested in the event(s) leading up to belief in "a god"."In better times, we even had laws prohibiting homosexual behavior enev [sic] though we had the Bill of Rights at that time." - Kewlie
"That was a rather sexist comment if I ever saw one." - Kewlie
"The problem would appear to be prejudice on your part." - Kewlie
"You're quite free to display your bigotry and intolerance anyway you wish. Your display ... highlights the hypocritical intolerance of the left." - Kewlie
"Another thread with a dishonest title seasoned with hate and bigotry" - Kewlie
"Not Minn, his are one sided and hateful, laced with intense bigotry against anything Christian" - Kewlie
"I don't believe in tolerance and have never claimed that I do." - Kewlie
"Otherwise, your statement would be funny if it weren't filled with so much hate." - Kewlie

You might also want to ask Queen too. Seems the God has brought about an epiphany for her as well.
If there is anything I’ve learned from both conservatives and liberals, it’s that we can have all the “right” answers and still be mean. And when you’re mean, it’s hard for people to listen to, much less desire, your truth.

Yes, it's been wonderful to witness!
AA: May I ask if you are "seeking," or have some other reason for assigning importance to this? I'm already decorating your celebration thread for when you join us! I've always been an optimist! :bluebud:

I concur! Of all the prominent atheists on this site, in my opinion you demonstrate the most Christlike attitudes already.

- Define 'seeking'. I'm not looking for miracles, if that's what you mean... I'm a skeptic and an atheist, and there hasn't been anything in 20 years that has convinced me there is any validity in any theistic belief system. It's my very firm opinion that Alien is 100% wrong, just like anyone else who professes to be a Christian. What I'm offering him is a chance to explain his conversion in specific terms... there are two possible outcomes.AA: May I ask if you are "seeking," or have some other reason for assigning importance to this?
1. Alien's conversion is coherent and testable, and Archon follows along.
2. Alien's conversion is neither, and Alien no longer values the same skeptical traits that he used to.
- I am not out to "deconvert" anyone. I am only out to test the hypothesis. It will survive or fail on its own merit.
- But let's wait for the man himself."In better times, we even had laws prohibiting homosexual behavior enev [sic] though we had the Bill of Rights at that time." - Kewlie

By seeking, I meant looking for a reason to believe.
I'm pretty sure I know where Alien will weigh in on this and it will be very interesting to watch the two of you interact on this subject, should he elect to keep it public.
I'm praying you have the same revelation that he did: That there are more than two possible outcomes!

This should be an interesting thread. Mind if I watch?

January 2nd 2004, 05:17 PM #11- I'm seeking Christianity about as much as you're seeking atheism, I think.By seeking, I meant looking for a reason to believe.
- Prayer is a weapon in my arsenal, actually. But again, we'll see what Alien says.I'm praying you have the same revelation that he did: That there are more than two possible outcomes!
- *shrug* Anyone can watch. This should be an interesting thread. Mind if I watch?
Alien may not feel like discussing it in public however. Or even with me at all (which would disappoint me).
- I've sent him a PM, but he hasn't been on today yet. He'll find me I'm sure. I don't want to beat him about the face and neck with it, you see.AA, Have you PMed Alien the link?"In better times, we even had laws prohibiting homosexual behavior enev [sic] though we had the Bill of Rights at that time." - Kewlie

January 2nd 2004, 05:39 PM #13Well, at least you're not taking the easy route and saying that he wasn't "a real atheist." That's commendable.Today @ 08:16 PM post located here

January 2nd 2004, 06:33 PM #15I'd be much more interested in what specific cognitive steps he took, and what he thought was required to become "saved", to "give his life to Christ", to "convert" to Christianity, and where he came by this process, and what he feels is now "different" in the way he will live his life.Today @ 03:16 PM post located here

If it makes Alien happy, and if it obviously can make so many other Christians here on TWEB happy, then I am certainly happy for him and them. The fellowship of a truly loving Christian community is a wonderful, powerful and beautiful thing to experience.
And while AA and I cannot hope to be invited to "have beers" as Alien and RightIdea are planning, a billion years from now in heaven, we can be happy that they think they will...
