  • Green Tyranny, and why Conservatives Question The Global Warming Meme.

Rupert Darwall's latest book "Green Tyranny" documents the connections between Communism and the green movement. The "reds" simply turned "green" - they are deeply anti-free market and totalitarian. The video is a good primer:

    https://www.c-span.org/video/?437839-1/green-tyranny

Of course if you actually attend green rallies they are not shy about it:

So forgive us if we suspect ulterior motives in the Global Warming movement...

But that being said seer, I'm not going to buy a book, read it and post a review of it you'd just ignore. I'm already busy doing other stuff, and in this next month I'll take a look at the claims Mountain Man repeats about data being fudged. I've already got the raw data of the US weather stations alone, a file taking up 2.8gb. I'll be picking that apart. They've been fairly thorough in documenting everything.

But unless you post your own break down of the claims he makes, then I can't discuss it.

I'm interested in the science, and I'm very dubious about the claims of political machinations. It reminds me too much of the now dead Creation Science movements claims about nazism and evolutionary biology.

Leonhard, if you don't have time to read the book, watch the video link. It gives a good overview. There is no question that the green movement (including the Global Warming movement) is deeply leftist and anti-capitalist. We see this as just another venue for ultimate political control. No matter the science the totalitarian impulse of the left gives us more than a little pause.

It's true. The NDP here actually used the communist manifesto decades ago when they set up their party. Wherever they get into power, they immediately start destroying the economy for the sake of the environment.

Except, I would say that they do it not for the sake of the environment, but for the sake of their control.

Yes, it's their mantra, but it's for the sake of beggaring the people and making huge government.

It makes sense considering the cause of global warming is the short-sighted pursuit of capitalistic goals and conservatives, for some reason, have decided that they don't care to be stewards of the earth. It also makes sense that conservatives are skeptical of anything liberals do regardless of the independent merit of evidence. However, these are all condemnations of the conservative response to climate change, not support for skepticism.

Exactly, that is why you leftists seek to impose totalitarian rule... Control of populations, not the saving of the earth, is paramount here. And how is it PM, that a conservative oil state like Texas generates 37% of it's electricity through solar and wind. Free market, with a little tax incentive.

That's because the Right allied itself with the coal industry, and protects its interests. That is a historical accident. They could easily have gone the other way, and argued for their version of a solution to Global Warming. Even if the environmental movement is left-leaning (I won't deny that), its certainly not communistic however.

I for one am not a communist. Few people are. I'm a social democrat.

Leonhard, conservatives lead towards free market solutions, socialists lead towards top down government control. That is the bottom line. As far as coal, it is dependable, generally cheap, abundant, with a good BTU. And you are wrong, the green movement has been populated by former communists. Not that they are all communists.
