You're just waiting for me to say "Trump," aren't you? I've said before that I didn't vote for him. So yes, really.
I DENOUNCE DONALD J. TRUMP AND ALL HIS IMMORAL ACTS.

Because I've generally found the whole US conservative desire to slavishly follow alpha-male / strong-man figures (e.g. Trump) to be bizarre and inexplicable to me and something I just can't at all empathize with (for me, the more power someone has the more suspicious of them I am likely to be, the less likely I am to wish to follow their orders, and the more 'alpha-male' they are in style the more likely all my BS detectors are to go off). It comes across as if they have a deep-seated sense of lack of their own manliness and so are looking round for a 'real man' somewhere they can obey and in doing so compensate for the lack of their own alpha-maleness or something.

It's a psychological pattern I see among US conservatives that I haven't observed in my own country. Your comment makes me wonder if it's a mindset that comes from religious belief. If their religion gets them into the mindset of worshiping God the ultimate authority-figure, who ought to be worshiped and obeyed and submitted to and followed because he is powerful and has a big carrot/stick (heaven/hell)... then I guess it cultivates a mindset of submission to human men who are powerful and have a big carrot/stick due to their political power. Although I don't know if that really explains why the US conservatives pine desperately for a particular aura of alpha-maleness rather than happily submit to any kind of leader (e.g. why not follow latte-sipping Obama who liked explaining his decisions and presenting them in a conversational way, rather than in the alpha-male kind of way that conservatives love to be commanded in? They seem to love authoritarian tone rather than merely power per se)...
Fascinating. That doesn't describe me or anyone I know in the slightest.

It reminds me of a couple of people...

I don't think anyone would confuse Chris Matthews with a US conservative/Evangelical - and Obama had arrogance down pat, but he was no alpha male.

i meant that his description applies very well to the average liberal. And Obama was an alpha male. Merely being president makes you one by default.

Not especially. Too much white guilt in those parts.

Alpha males don't lead from behind. I'm also pretty sure that no one considers, e.g., Jimmy Carter as an alpha male.

True! One cannot say that he's 'like, really smart' and 'a very stable genius'...like some.
