But you're fine with such criticism of his.

    I am fine with facts!

      Wow, we agree on something!

I then rooted for Cruz until he exposed himself as a total sleaze with questionable campaign tactics.
Um, it kinda disturbs me you couldn't tell Cruz was a total sleaze prior to that. I get that Republican politicians in general have the sleaze-o-meter pinging away so it can be hard to notice one sleaze in a room full of sleaze, but Cruz is sooo bad your sleaze-o-meter should be catching fire the moment he opens his mouth.

Kasich is too spineless and establishment for my taste.
      Fair enough.

Spanish-speaking Jeb would have tried to turn us into an extension of Mexico, and I don't think Rubio would have been much better.
Um, that seems a ridiculous claim.

Jeb! and Rubio were just run-of-the mill spineless establishment figures like Kasich.

Carson seemed like a real man of integrity
Um, dude, the man lied constantly. And he seemed to know nothing about politics, and always looked like he was falling asleep on his feet.

Basically, Trump was the candidate we needed to beat Hillary.
Doubtful. Hillary was less liked than any previous major party nominee, with approval ratings in the -15 to -20 range. Almost anyone could win against that.

Trump managed to beat even her in unfavorably with ratings in the -20 to -25 range. (Indeed, as you'd expect from those ratings, Hillary got more votes than he did) That wasn't a good candidate to be fielding against her, and it was only by chance distribution of electoral college seats that he manged to win by a tiny tiny margin of votes due to how the votes for the candidates were distributed across states.
"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

I think you mean not only crass, but juvenile.

So you voted for a complete juvenile jackass?
          Doesn't make him insane though.
No, just makes him a complete juvenil jackass, that you voted for.

Well, yeah, but we were on the topic of "crass" not "adulterer".
I'm starting to get the impression that even presidents are flawed human beings.
