Hey nice to see you. I was thinking Oregon had slipped into some post apocalyptic hell hole since you all have to pump your own gas now. Nice to see you have survived.

...so, how many people starved to death because they couldn't get to the grocery store?

Not me! I know how to pump my own gas! Actually, it's only highly rural parts of the state that will now pump their own gas after hours. The poor snowflakes are still safe from the trauma of having to do something themselves.

You all still have cities after they blew up all the gas pumps?

But if it happens the Democrats would stand to lose a lot of there electoral votes Since California is a winner take all I'm all for it even though I will lose my voice being in the part of California that makes go Dem most of the time. I want to move to the State of Jackson which actually includes parts of Oregon. Yes there is another State splitting movement they even have their own website

Maybe they could just give Eastern Oregon and Washington to Idaho.

On the last ballot here in California there was a referendum to split California into multiple states. This time it was sponsored by a liberal whose proposal was to Gerrymander the state for maximal Democratic support. In previous years conservatives have proposed similar for maximal Republican support. I hadn't even heard of the one linked to in this thread and I live in the supposed "New California." This is "fake news"

I say give California back to Mexico. The Mexicans keep sneaking into California and California keeps protecting them, so just bite the bullet and secede back to Mexico. It will boost Mexico's economy because of Silicon Valley and Hollywood and it will get rid of a bunch of whiney liberals who hate America anyway.

                          One step closer....

Exclusive: Break-up of California moves a step closer as billionaire gets enough signatures to trigger vote

But, no, I don't really see it happening.

The chance of California splitting into three has moved a step closer after a billionaire secured enough signatures to trigger a referendum on the issue.

Tim Draper, who made his money through Hotmail and Skype, has gathered 600,000 signatures supporting the change – way above the 364,000 needed.

Those who want to break up California believe it would boost educational standards and reduce the political power of Sacramento, the state’s capital.

Providing the state authorities agree the signatures are genuine a referendum on the issue will be held this November alongside other mid-term elections.

According to the US constitution if a state wants to split up: "New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no... Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress."

Kentucky, Maine, and West Virginia were created from splitting up other states, and their creation required both state-assembly approval as well as federal-congressional approval, as per the constitution.
