Breitbart's James Dellingpole offers his own comprehensive analysis:

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-journal...takedown-evah/

I think the best part of the interview was around the 22-minute mark when Newman accused Peterson of violating people's "right" not to be offended by his statements, and he said, "In order to think, you have to risk being offensive." He then conceded that Newman pressing him on various points and being combative had made the interview uncomfortable for him, and Newman, being the post-modern ditz that she is, began to gloat, congratulating herself for putting Peterson on the spot until he continued:

"You're doing what you should do, which is digging a bit to see what the hell is going on, and that is what you should do, but you're exercising your freedom of speech to certainly risk offending me, and that's fine. More power to you, as far as I'm concerned."

His point finally hit home, and Newman stammered out a few words before lapsing into stunned silence for several seconds while trying to process the cognitive dissonance that was clearly brewing in her head.

This humiliating interview for Newman has naturally led to some hilarious memes on Twitter.

Newman, of course, has interpreted this well-deserved mockery and satire as an attack on her person and demanded that BBC4 spring for "security experts" to keep her safe from, I don't know, mean Tweets, I guess?

A Christian evangelist was accused of a hate crime and locked up in a cell after preaching from the Bible to a gay teenager.

Gordon Larmour, 42, was charged by police after telling the story of Adam and Eve to a 19-year-old who asked him about God’s views on homosexuality.

The street preacher referred to the Book of Genesis and stated that God created Adam and Eve to produce children.

Within minutes he was frogmarched to a police van, accused of threatening or abusive behaviour 'aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation' - despite not swearing or using any form of offensive language.

The father-of-one spent a night in custody and faced a six-month ordeal before a sheriff cleared him of any blame.

The incident, which occurred in his home town of Irvine in Ayrshire, has become a rallying point for Christian campaigners who are concerned that freedom of speech is being stifled by political correctness.

Please note that he was specifically asked what "God’s views on homosexuality" were. He didn't run up to anyone and get in their face and start condemning them. He didn't swear or use offensive language.

Fortunately, later cooler heads prevailed but this is not the only time such things have happened. IIRC, similar incidents have taken place in Canuckistan as well.
A few isolated incidents that ended without formal charges doesn't meant that there has been great harm to free speech. There are isolated incidents without formal charges involving any given right already.

harassment by cops without pressing charges is a common authoritarian tactic (it's harder to punish the cops if there's no paper trail of clear wrong doing). Something similar happened in charlotesville where the right wing protesters asked the cops to arrest them and the cops refused and started hitting them instead.

Evidence, mostly. Also, if you're resorting to insults, you're not arguing effectively.

Reminds me of a "young Greens" political event I once attended (high in number of vegetarians/vegans) in which an ice-breaker was to go around and say your favorite breakfast. I said, somewhat nervously, "Not sure if it's PC here, but bacon and eggs". A couple of people called out to say it was totally fine for me to say that.

Sadly I did waste my time listening to it. Haven't read his book though.

Nah, I like a minute or two to think over things that are said to me. I'm not an off-the-cuff with an instant witty response type of person that you need for TV - a written media works better for me. I have considered a career as a print journalist covering science and politics though.
I doubt you actually grasped what Dr Peterson said, but rather passed it through your own filter.

How about you quote exactly what he said in the interview that supports the last sentence in your post #18.
