Otherwise, you can't help but believe there's something worth hiding.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

For the sake of accuracy, the memo has been reviewed by Director Wray (over the weekend, in an usual move), and today by two FBI specialists more familiar with the details it involves (one from the counter-intel division, the other a lawyer), and neither identified any inaccuracies. Of course that still leaves room for carping about how "complete" or "balanced" it is.

The Republican base will love it because they'll get a half-dozen new conspiracy theories to naively buy into. The time the media will have to spend debunking it will take away from the time they can spend paying attention to things like Trump firing FBI deputy-director Andrew McCabe today, and (soon likely) firing deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein, as part of the Trump administration clumsily working toward their ongoing goal of sinking the Mueller investigation before it hits.
Just for laffs -- In the crazy case that the memo turns out to credibly show that the entire basis for the Mueller probe was info gleaned by *improper* use of FISA, why should not the entire case be dropped as "fruit of the poisoned tree"?

          Hmmm...

          Source: FOX News

Two senior FBI officials have now reviewed a controversial Republican staff memo alleging abuses of government surveillance programs during the 2016 presidential campaign, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News – adding that the officials “could not point to any factual inaccuracies.”

The two officials – one from the bureau’s counterintelligence division and the other from the legal division – followed up after an initial review of the memo during a rare Sunday trip to Capitol Hill by FBI Director Christopher Wray.

So, you've read the memo then to be able to determine what is in it?

This is like Chuck Schumer foaming at the mouth referring to it as "slanderous" and full of "wild speculation." Since Chuckie is a Senator and the memo (which only a few have seen[1]) is coming from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, it is extremely unlikely that he has seen it but like you he just "knows" it's full of lies

            1. The very reason that the DOJ and FBI were strenuously objecting to it being released

Seeing as how you've obviously read the memo, please name at least one of these "things" and explain specifically how that thing is "half-baked" and "designed to side-track the gullible down a half-dozen conspiracy theory paths and thus provide as much cover for Trump as possible."

The question is, if the memo shows that the special counsel investigation is based on improperly gathered evidence and false information, does that render the whole thing dead in the water, including whatever indictments have already been handed out?

I have not seen the memo, or the counter memo. I think the dems are upset because they believe the memo cherry-picks data to cast them (and the previous administration) in the worst possible light to provide a basis for shutting down Mueller. I have to admit that I am not impressed with Nunes, so I have some doubts. But I'm waiting until I can see the memo, the counter memo, and what investigative reporting can dig out (from both sides) before forming an opinion.

I am not finding a report that he was fired. Apparently he has stepped down to a lesser position, hoping to hang in until he can get to his retirement date. Where is this report that he was fired?

There is this from Guy Benson. I've encountered explicit "safe to say he was 'removed'" language, but it all seems to trace back to Fox News.
