Yes, it was it was scripted for him "of course" but the point is that, even with a script, Trump still managed to contradict himself by ad libbing: Not only that, before his inauguration Trump was shown incontrovertible evidence that Putin had ordered the interference in the election to favour him. So he knew it "wasn't other people out there" and yet he lied about it. Still, no surprise there.
