Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotional’s 2018 Experiencing Jesus, the Prelude to Life
No God, No Patience – Know God, Know Patience!
    Shalom!

“So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.” (Isaiah 30:18, NLT)

Once upon a time at our church camp north of Lexington, Michigan our oldest son came running up with his right eye nearly swollen shut. He’d been bitten by an insect of some sort. As parents our first notion was to put him in the car and head for the hospital in Port Huron. Something stopped us (probably the Holy Spirit) and convinced us to seek out a couple of church elders and have pray for him. After the prayer we then headed for the hospital and by the time we arrived (about 30-minute drive) the swelling was completely gone. When I think back on that experience from 40 years or so ago is it any wonder Isaiah tells us when storms come up don’t make God wait to Bless us, seek Him out FIRST! Don’t go anywhere but to God!

“Blessed are those who wait for his help…” Once we’ve made our needs known to God there’s a good chance the waiting game begins. When waiting on God Peter says this, “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.” (2 Peter 3:8,) In other words God is telling us He’ll Bless us in His own time and in His own way, the call is for is patience.

Patience is not only a rare “commodity” in our fast-paced world, but the lack of patience illustrates our need for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not only our connection with God but also is the real source of the patience (among other things) needed to wait for God to follow through with His help. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians 5:22-23)

Patience is not the ability to wait, patience gives one the ability to remain Hopeful while God works His Blessings into our lives.

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6)

    Grace and PEACE,
    Gary
