Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotional’s 2018 Experiencing Jesus, the Prelude to Life
Honoring God on our 50th Anniversary…
    Shalom!

On this day 50 years ago at 3667 Dykeman Road Elder Ivon Booth performed his first Marriage Ceremony marrying his daughter Patti Booth to Me, Gary Piper! We not only made a covenant between each other and God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as well. And as newly weds we had no idea how important a part the Divine Three would play in getting us to this point in our lives and in our marriage.

Together thanks to each of Them we’ve faced and made it through many “storms” that had the potential of ripping our fragile but solid marriage apart, yet God honored His commitment to us and here we are at this mild stone in our lives. However, when the doctor first told us my lung capacity had fallen to 43% we were not sure I would make it to today but with Patti’s, “I will kill you if you aren’t here for our 50th anniversary” and Holy Spirit’s constant presence in our lives I may not have made it, but as a living testimony to the persistence of God we made it.

A couple of days ago I ordered flowers for Patti and in the middle of the planter is a crystal cross honoring Jesus. As I thought about Jesus’ own cross I began thinking how it symbolized His sacrifice, and His command to bear our own crosses. I thought about the sacrifices it takes to be married for 50 years. I thought about how one end of the cross goes into the ground. I thought how the right arm of the cross as me and the left arm as Patti, the top of the cross as Jesus and how the bottom of the cross was grounded in the solid Rock of Ages.

There is nothing special about Patti and I. We’ve had our share of fights, almost broke up while still newlyweds, been through 2 births of 2 sons, though work layoffs, financial difficulties, nearly 20 surgeries between the both of us, and now an incurable lung disease pay a major part of our lives. But there is one thing special about us and it isn’t really us at all, it’s the Divine Three, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit they’ve made a HUGE difference in our lives and in our marriage and the Good News is They’ll do the same for you!

Here are some of the important lessons I’ve learned in the past 50 years: how important God is, how to love, how to sacrifice, how to be patient, how important it is to look on the inside of someone, how to keep my mouth shut when your wife is right, how to say I am sorry, how to be honest, how to evade certain questions, and how selective hearing does not always work. And how did I learn all that neat stuff, I had a great teacher, Patti Piper who means the world to me.

I LOVE you Patti and way back in Sunday School as teenagers I knew one day we’d be together. I am not sure how many more years we have but I am looking forward to each and every day! Every married couple has their own song here’s ours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziKyqlcbYRY

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6)

    Grace and PEACE,
    Gary
