Well ya know Lilpix, thats nothing new, and perhaps if those kids had known better they wouldn't have gotten themselves into trouble. Thats kind of the point of sex ed in schools.

Leave it to the part before where you're wrong?

The problem with this topic, that liberal policy involves inappropriate discussion in sex ed, is that conservatives think that truth and reality are inappropriate. The fact that teenagers have sex is inappropriate. The fact that gay and trans people exist is inappropriate. The fact that people should use protection is inappropriate. Answering people's questions about and correcting misconceptions derived from pop culture is inappropriate. The idea that anyone should know anything about sex before they're married and trying for a child is inappropriate. Do you know what I find inappropriate? The spread of STIs. Teen pregnancy. Gay and trans kids being beaten and kicked out of their homes. Knowingly lying to teenagers about their health. Opinions based on preconceptions instead of evidence. Conservatives have had their turn with abstinence only and it was an abject failure. The responsible thing for parents to do is to let people who care about facts and results and, most importantly, their kids, do what they are trained to do.

I once heard a compelling speech on this subject by a pacific island woman here.

Her mother was a forceful authoritarian large woman (think 'big black momma' stereotype) who was a strong Roman Catholic. Her sex-ed to her many kids consisted of one day shaking her finger forcefully at them and telling them "You know the thing? Don't do the thing!". The kids didn't know what 'thing' she was talking about, but didn't want to ask. Later when this girl became pregnant as a teenager, she learned that the 'thing' she wasn't supposed to do was sex, because her mother kicked her out of the house and cut off support for her, due to her 'immoral' actions.

Sadly this sort of thing is all too common among the pacific island immigrant community here and their deep religiosity leads to them behaving nastily toward their family members who get pregnant out of wedlock. My sister who's a medical doctor observed first hand in hospital a pacific island girl get cut-off from her family after giving birth. It's terrible that at a time when the girl needs extra support and love and care that the family should respond with nastiness due to their silly religion.

That’s because you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve served with people from about every background you can think of. From Ivy Leaguer that hail from New England to farm boys from the Midwest. Seen both getting into trouble due to sex. The military hands out birth control and condemns for free. A quick visit to your PCP or public health is all it takes. Yet STDs are rather common, people accidently getting pregnant, or being with the wrong person is still common, no matter the background. Sorry, but sex Ed does little to prevent people from thinking with the wrong body parts vs the head.

And it’s amazing how the narrative of ‘born with it’ doesn’t seem to pass scientific muster, huh?

That you don’t get why it’s a theme. It’s because it’s a source of potentional trouble and a common one at that. There’s a reason for your observation.

I see, so being educated and knowing risks involved wouldn't help you at all, right?

Comments like this show me you have no idea what it is like to be young or love someone. It takes a second to go from sitting together to much more. Getting caught up in the moment is far more common than you might think.

The consistent theme seems to be that it is bad and only to be exercised in order to procreate.

But you agree with me that bondage is a subject that should not be raised with children.

You really are an idiot sometimes. First, I have no problem with teaching kids how to protect themselves from STDs. That lesson is pretty simple and straight forward. But there is no reason to get into homosexuality anymore than there is to get into bestiality or 50 shades. Bullying should be handled generally - you don't bully any kid for any reason.

I have never taught, nor been taught, that sex is bad OR that it is only for procreation.

Honestly, Pixie, I have no idea what you're trying to communicate. Possibly you did not understand my initial observation?
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

Yes. That kind of statement by Tassy just proves how ignorant atheists are about scripture and the character of God.

I think they commonly take an extremist view of a small minority as representative of the whole - it just makes them look really ignorant.
