He's just being himself like most of us were at that age. I'm far less concerned about anything he says than I am at how he and Emma Gonzales have been treated. One person made a video on YouTube of himself taking target practice at a cutout of Hogg. https://www.theblaze.com/news/2018/0...s-is-the-video This and the example of Ted Nugent I mentioned earlier suggest to me that the gun rights lobby has a serious rage problem among its ranks to address.

And what of hogg calling gun owners murderers with blood on their hands? Again i lnow this is just a you to but that isnt my argument. My arguement is for all the talk of new rules and reasonable control i see very little actual plans except cosmetic bans. As for nugent I think he is hurting his own case.

But again, I bring up Nugent because he is a board member of the NRA, which is the primary force in arguing for gun rights. He literally represents the NRA. You mentioned NRA programs earlier and I'm explaining why I want the NRA to have nothing to do with any solutions.

I think i see your point. Nugent in acting this way is making the NRA seem foolish. So if they are not to be involved who will be?

I think we need level headed gun owners to step up and be a voice. It's the crazy ones who like to speak up (like a guy I work with who wears a "no lives matter" shirt and talks about how in a disaster he would target liberals because he doesn't think they're be armed) but the level headed ones who don't obsess over it tend to be quiet. I think the non-crazy ones are in the majority, just not vocal.

I am not entirely sure about the loud ones always being the majority, but you bring up many solid points.

                1. Far to many are paranoid on both sides. Many dont know gun laws and have never fired a gun.

                2. The comparisons to mass murderers is getting absurd.

                3. It is easy to see people as roadblocks to be removed tham people made in the image of God.

Nugents worth to the NRA isn't in lobbying power. He gets little cred at the Federal level. His appeal is to the hunters and gun shooting competition enthusiasts, etc. Nugent doesn't speak for the NRA or for them. "edgy" wild side that should be taken with a grain of salt.

That said, yeah, I wish he would shut the heck up. But, he's pandering to his audience. ALL organizations have a fringe element, and usually, there is someone who appeals to that fringe. Nothing Nugent says is being taken seriously by those of us who are serious about the issue...as those of you who are hearing some of the things being said by Hogg et. al. are not taking them seriously either. Unfortunately, inflammatory speech on one side begets inflammatory speech on the other side.

Anybody on the executive board of an organization by definition speaks for them when he publicly opines on that topic, especially if it garners attention, is publicly tied to the organization, and is not contradicted by the parent organization. He's not just some random member.

KG already hit this but I'll make an additional point. No, Hogg doesn't represent gun control proponents officially - but he is doing providing a public face and a bad one. He does damage the proponent side if he's making ridiculous claims like that.

Shove kid in public spotlight (bad plan) and you do have to allow some latitude - he's not an adult and not able to behave like what he isn't. That said, it doesn't excuse every idiot thing he says - it does bring excessive response into question.

I agree, and even if he didn't meet the legal age of adulthood whatever that is, he's more mature than many of those who do.
