      Kalam Cosmological Argument

I have searched in vain for the individual Muslim who is credited with formalizing this deductive argument. Can anyone point to an original source that documents this?

      Thanks,

I am primarily concerned with "original source material." I have read several suggestings as to the originators of this argument, but have yet to be provided original source documention.

The kalam argument has its roots in medieval Arabic philosophy and theology.
      Still looking around...

Certain parts of it and it reduction have been traced:

Craig refines this idea into a simple, deductive syllogism that is traceable to the works of medieval Muslim theologians such as al-Ghazali (in his Kitab al-Iqtisad fi'l-'Itiqad for example)

      Ahh... Here we go...

The kalam argument was originally formulated by Al-Ghazli (1058-1111), an Islamic theologian, but has recently been popularized by William Lane Craig.

He formulated several different place, but most say that this is the clearest source:

      http://www.witness-pioneer.org/vil/Books/AG_FIB/ch3.htm

It is an English Translation. It should be noted that he was writting about Allah, not nessesaryly the Christian God, but I think the argument would apply to both.
