You remind me of that cartoon with the little dog saying, "Everything is fine!" while the house burns down around him.

Statement from Nunes, Gowdy, and Goidlatte, and it nails Comey to the wall:

We have long argued former Director Comey’s self-styled memos should be in the public domain, subject to any classification redactions. These memos are significant for both what is in them and what is not.

Former Director Comey’s memos show the President made clear he wanted allegations of collusion, coordination, and conspiracy between his campaign and Russia fully investigated. The memos also made clear the ‘cloud’ President Trump wanted lifted was not the Russian interference in the 2016 election cloud, rather it was the salacious, unsubstantiated allegations related to personal conduct leveled in the dossier.

The memos also show former Director Comey never wrote that he felt obstructed or threatened. While former Director Comey went to great lengths to set dining room scenes, discuss height requirements, describe the multiple times he felt complimented, and myriad other extraneous facts, he never once mentioned the most relevant fact of all, which was whether he felt obstructed in his investigation.

The memos also make certain what has become increasingly clear of late: former Director Comey has at least two different standards in his interactions with others. He chose not to memorialize conversations with President Obama, Attorney General Lynch, Secretary Clinton, Andrew McCabe or others, but he immediately began to memorialize conversations with President Trump. It is significant former Director Comey made no effort to memorialize conversations with former Attorney General Lynch despite concerns apparently significant enough to warrant his unprecedented appropriation of the charging decision away from her and the Department of Justice in July of 2016.

These memos also lay bare the notion that former Director Comey is not motivated by animus. He was willing to work for someone he deemed morally unsuited for office, capable of lying, requiring of personal loyalty, worthy of impeachment, and sharing the traits of a mob boss. Former Director Comey was willing to overlook all of the aforementioned characteristics in order to keep his job. In his eyes, the real crime was his own firing.

The memos show Comey was blind to biases within the FBI and had terrible judgment with respect to his deputy Andrew McCabe. On multiple occasions he, in his own words, defended the character of McCabe after President Trump questioned McCabe.

Finally, former Director Comey leaked at least one of these memos for the stated purpose of spurring the appointment of Special Counsel, yet he took no steps to spur the appointment of Special Counsel when he had significant concerns about the objectivity of the Department of Justice under Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

As we have consistently said, rather than making a criminal case for obstruction or interference with an ongoing investigation, these memos would be Defense Exhibit A should such a charge be made.

And this from 'the conservative tree house'.

You do realise that Nunes is Trump's mini-me don't you?

        Just for you, Tass:

        this is fine.jpg

What is clear by now is that there is absolutely nothing in the memos that should have compelled a special council investigation. No evidence that Trump attempted to obstruct justice, no attempts to solicit an inappropriate vow of loyalty from Comey (the context makes it clear that Trump was concerned about leaks and wanted people who were loyal, that is to say who wouldn't leak!), no attempt by Trump to coerce Comey regarding Flynn... in short, these memos, in Comey's own words(!), destroy nearly two-years of false liberal narratives. You think that's why Rosenstein fought so hard to keep them under wraps?

And Comey is having a bad week all around, right when he's trying to celebrate the release of his book. He was on The View earlier in the week when one of the hosts was handed a copy of the Congressional criminal referral, and as she started reading it, Comey gulped and grew visibly nervous. Then last night on Rachel Maddow's show, she read excerpts from the just released memos and asked pointed questions, and Comey looked positively nauseated.

Gee, you think it was a coincidence the memos were released the same week Comey was on his book tour? What are the chances?

And then, of course, there's the fact that the memos, which Comey admitted to leaking to the media, contain classified information! That could get him in a heap of trouble, and I don't think there will be anyone willing to give him the same "there was no intent" defense that he used to cover up for Hillary.

Source: Before He Was Fired, James Comey Told Trump ‘I Don’t Leak, I Don’t Do Weasel Moves’

Before he was fired as FBI director, James Comey told President Donald Trump that he would be “honestly loyal” to the president and would not commit “weasel moves” in his administration.

Comey detailed his conversation with the president during a dinner with Trump at the White House on January 28.

I said I don’t do sneaky things, I don’t leak, I don’t do weasel moves,” Comey wrote in the memo, promising that he would “always tell him the truth.”

Comey said that Trump told him that he needed loyalty, but in response, Comey wrote that “I did not reply, or even nod, or change my facial expression.”

Comey also told Trump that “he could fire me any time he wished” but that he loved his job and thought he was doing well.

The Comey memos were released to the public on Thursday night, revealing details not found in the former FBI director’s new book.

Now why didn't he mention any of this in his book? "A Higher Loyalty", indeed.

The title and topic of this thread as a defense of Dirty Cop James Comey is becoming increasingly ironic.

Source: DOJ Inspector General Investigating James Comey for Release of Classified Memos…

According to Fox News Catherine Herridge reporting, Inspector General Michael Horowitz is investigating the unauthorized distribution of classified memos by former FBI Director James Comey. The Wall Street Journal is also reporting that two of the four memos Director Comey gave to his friend Daniel Richman contained classified information.

According to the WSJ report: “At least two of the memos that former FBI Director James Comey gave to a friend outside of the government contained information that officials now consider classified, according to people familiar with the matter, prompting a review by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog.”

It is further reported that James Comey redacted elements of one memo himself in an effort to protect secrets before he handed the documents over to his friend Daniel Richman. Comey made the self-determination that no another memo contained classified information. However, after he left the FBI officials upgraded the second memo content to “confidential” after a review.

DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz is now conducting an investigation into the releases of the memo and the overall circumstances surrounding the releases. Previously Comey stated he considered the memos personal records and not government documents. He told congress he wrote them and authorized their release to the media “as a private citizen.”

Mr. Comey gave four total memos to Columbia Law School professor Daniel Richman. In an earlier congressional review of the issues Senator Chuck Grassley reviewed all of the memos and submitted questions to the DOJ about the classification issues. During the Grassley review three memos were considered unclassified at the time and one was said to contain classified information.

Maybe Comey is hoping for the same "no intent" get-out-of-jail-free card he gave to Hillary, but I doubt anybody is going to stick their neck out for him at this point. His only hope of saving his skin is to "flip" and rat out the rest of the gang.

It all depends on whether or not the rat has strong corroborating evidence. Recordings are especially useful.
