Unless he's preternaturally gifted, it probably took him a minute or two to recover the proper frame of mind for giving the speech. Regardless, they wasted at least 8 minutes of everyone's time; it seems there was insufficient time to get to everyone's questions.

yes the protestors have a first amendment right to free speech, but not at the expense of someone else. And disturbing the peace is against the law. This was a private event where people had invited a speaker. The protestors were not invited and were causing a disturbance. That is not protected speech.

How would the left like it if every time a black person spoke, white supremacists shouted them down? What if that happened back when MLK Jr gave his famous speeches?

Worth bearing in mind that the First Amendment is a restriction on the government in how it acts, not a human right and thus not a restriction on private citizens. It seems to me that the US conservatives often don't seem to understand that distinction and confuse the two, possibly including here. One private citizen is under zero legal obligation to respect the 'First Amendment rights' of any other private citizen.

Furthermore how the First Amendment is interpreted by courts is certainly a valid matter for debate and protest. e.g. Should corporations have First Amendment rights or should they only apply to people? To what extent does paying money count as protected speech (e.g. see Citizens United etc)? etc.

I'm speaking generally about recent conservative events being shut down by the left under the threat of violence or by violence.
