Also if your definition of a country having had slavery is that even once at some point in the country's history some private citizen illegally forced someone else to work against their will or for below-minimum wage, then all countries have had slavery, and your definition is useless. The relevant distinctions are IMO, whether slavery was legal, and the extent to which it was a practiced and widespread institution. Neither of which things have ever been the case in NZ, unlike the US which was the comparison.
You said, "we never had slavery here". I pointed out your error.

    The end.

You're the one in error. We never had slavery here. Your various references don't amount to any reason to think that statement is wrong. Your argument amounts to special pleading that 'having slavery' means something very different to what a normal person would understand that to mean.

Whatever you say. You know more than anybody here and we are so lucky to have you.

Pretty much the first accurate thing I've ever seen you say...

Wait until someone calculates for you the reparations bill due to you for genocide of the natives, stealing all their land, kidnapping black people from Africa as slaves, slavery, the KKK's terrorism, Jim Crow apartheid/segregation, etc. You'll wish it only amounted to free coffee for life for all black and native american peoples.
I’ve always found white liberals willingness to endlessly flog themselves over things a group of long dead white people did to a group of long dead non white people to be rather fansating. Almost as interesting as the naval gazing over the fact New Zealand hasn’t practiced slavery. It does help when your country was colonized by a post slavery British Empire where the Empire took a different approach to colonization that didn’t include the slavery they used in the Americas or the convict labor used in Australia and instead took a free labor approach. I guess he should be happy the Brits didn’t colonize his country a few decades earlier or he’d have less to browbeat Americans with.

I can't read your mind, if you meant to say it was never legal, then that is what you should have said. There WAS slavery in NZ, and there continues to be slavery continues in NZ in this modern day. Period.

Sorry if that's too hard a concept for you to understand.
It’s just Starlight’s usual way of trying to feel good about himself for an accident of history while apparently ignoring the fact his country was colonized and founded by the same British Empire that spent 2 centuries enslaving Africans, benefiting from slave labor, and wiping out/conquering entire groups of people, which he and his ancestors benefited from. He wouldn’t have anything to brag about if his country had his country been founded just a generation earlier.

The more I hear about this the more it is clear that these two guys were in the wrong. They were asked to leave because they were not buying anything, which from what I hear, is Starbucks' policy. But they refused - so the manager call the police, and they refused to leave then too. So they were arrested. Now everybody is calling this woman (manager) a racist, and she lost her job.

That would be the perfect way to engender more hatred and racism between whites and blacks. Sounds like a perfect liberal plan.

                          It was never legal. Really.

Do criminals sometimes disobey laws though? Sure.

Does one historical researcher allege that some NZ citizens were doing slave trading in other countries? Sure. Some people do bad things in other countries. Police here can't really stop that.

Are there some concerns today around illegal immigrants coming into NZ and being forced to work in sub-standard conditions, for sub-minimum wages? Sure. It's illegal.

It being illegal makes it worse. Kinda like human trafficking today.
