  • Fake CS Lewis quote?

No idea where to post this.

Somebody on Reddit posted a supposed CS Lewis quote that went something like "If you can't explain the gospel to an airplane mechanic, you need to get out of the seminary and into the real world more often." Google suggests it's not a real quote but the person admitted they weren't actually sure where they heard it. Does this remind anybody of anything similar, and any idea who might have actually said it?
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

I believe no such quote may be attributed to CS Lewis.

Ok this is not a quote, i think this is a miaunderstanding of something he said he in mere christianity in which he is talking about a pilot having a religious experience and then explaining some things to the aforementioned pilot.

        It doesn't even make sense.

I think the quote is saying something like "If you can't explain the gospel to the average person, then you need more real world experience, and less time in seminary".

I would think an airplane mechanic would be more than an "average person" if that was the point trying to be made.
