    Boy Scouts now open to girls

    I think this is a mistake. I was an Eagle Scout and got a lot out of the program. It was a good environment to bond with other boys without the distraction of girls.

    Edit: I haven't seen anything to confirm this but one post I saw online claimed that there will be separate troops for boys and girls. I suppose that would change things but I'm not sure what the point of that is given the existence of Girl Scouting.

      If they're just saying everybody can join, that doesn't apply.

        From my understanding, Girl Scouts is a completely separate organization from the Boy Scouts rather than a gender-segregated subdivision of the same organization. If someone thinks the Boy Scouts, as an organization, is a lot better than the Girl Scouts, I can definitely see the rationale for wanting to be in the other group.

              Here the 'boy version' is much better than the girl one, provided you're into the camping and stuff. I can see why girls would be interested in joining.
