  • Iran nuclear deal

Trump says he will withdraw the US from an Obama-era nuclear agreement with Iran. He is sticking to his word and his base are not interested in the rest of the world.

Has Trump done this for Putin?
This move creates greater division between the USA and Europe – good for Putin.

    It plays into Russia’s hands.
The “Axis of Resistance” - Both braced for American sanctions and strategically aligned against the West, Moscow and Tehran will grow closer still should President Donald Trump pull Washington out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal this week, a Russian official warned on Saturday.

FORMER US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has stated that Donald Trump’s threat to abandon the Iran Nuclear Deal puts US interests in jeopardy by playing into Vladimir Putin’s accusation of the US as being untrustworthy and unpredictable.

Ryabkov said Moscow must unite with Europe and China and undertake "intense work" to keep the existing plan intact and decried what he said was a US attempt to strongarm the situation.

"In what we heard yesterday, I don't see any invitation for Iran to enter dialogue," he said. "This defies the logic of the agreement."

"Russia will do everything in its power to save the agreement," he said.

We know that Trump has no foreign policy of his own. So, who put the idea in his empty head? Netanyahu?

Of course, Trump and his supporters are so keen to erase every trace of Obama’s legacy that Putin only has to give him a very gentle push in the right direction. The golden shower video is just a bit of extra insurance.

What’s Putin’s game? Isolate the USA and fill the void. It’s going gangbusters.

A Pew survey from last May confirmed America’s world-weariness: Only slightly more than a third of Americans felt the U.S. should help other countries with their problems. The election of a President who champions “America first” sentiments — and who wants to slash diplomacy and development funding by a colossal 32% — confirmed it as well. Even if the budget cut lands at a fraction of that number, it will cause lasting damage to our credibility and influence in the world.

                …………

With a world in disarray and a President seemingly uninterested in it, one would be justified in thinking the best days of American foreign policy are long behind us. But, with so much at stake, it is imperative that we fight against the tides of isolationism. The source of our country’s strength — our greatness — has always been our willingness to lead in a world darkened by danger. While not perfect, our leadership has ushered in an undeniably more prosperous, more secure, more tolerant, more peaceful world. The success is evident all around us. Now, we must do more to demonstrate it.

Well I guess Iran is the country that this Republican administration's lottery wheel has landed on when it comes to invasion. Trump the Stupid has decided to rip up one of the best agreements in history.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out given:
                  1. Europe is also part of the Iran agreement and they have said they are happy with it.
                  2. Even the hyper-aggressive US population is sated at this point and sick of war and not interested in another one.
                  3. The rest of the world is not going to be very happy with the US attacking a country for no reason.

I guess the treasonous Republican senators who wrote that open letter to Iran warning the Iranian leadership that the US government was untrustworthy and couldn't be trusted to keep its side of any agreements signed, turned out to be right.

In the wise words of Trump the Stupid on the Iran nuclear situation:

"Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you're a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us."
