Biden hasn't typically done very well in presidential primaries. I can see him getting the sympathy vote because of the deaths in his family, and for the big-moneyed-interests he's a 'safe' center-right candidate to support against the more 'radical left' (Bernie etc).

Well it's looking like he will be. All the other candidates are panicking that Sanders going to win by a landslide, so they are trying to run as Sanders clones and outdo one another is being progressive in order to split the Sanders voter equally among them all.
