Evidence of what? That a guy who has surgery and hormones to pretend to be a female isn't still a guy, and shouldn't be allowed to compete as a girl?

We don't have men and women compete athletically primarily because of differences in muscles. If you take that difference away, they shouldn't compete because....???

To her athletic detriment, so yes, it would be fair, and I invite you to point to a part of the HRT MtF process that would make a transwoman more competitive.

They used^[1] to test the women in international competitions like the Olympics to see if they were really men trying to gain an unfair advantage. Some of the former Eastern Bloc countries like East Germany were especially notorious for trying to slip men who the state had hormone given treatments to into the competition.

When my boys complain how things are "unfair," I usually remind them that no one promised them life would be "fair," and sometimes it isn't. Buck up and deal with it.

Transgenderism is going to create some issues, but it's certainly not the only thing that does. Disability can do the same thing too. Recall the young man who ran a race on his artificial legs, and was accused on an "unfair" advantage due to the technology.

Times change. Issues change.

I'm fine with transgenderism, as long as it's accompanied by a sex change operation. (I realize that some around here consider that to be self-mutilation, but I don't.) Simply identifying as the opposite gender without making an attempt to physically adapt leads to way too many problems, as we've already noted with the just the sports and bathroom issues.

Unfortunately, that is not an option for all, for a wide variety of reasons. So we will have situations like these going forward. I don't see an easy answer. It's one of those issues where whichever way you dodge, someone screams they are being "treated unfairly." Sometimes you get the bear - and sometimes the bear gets you.

The all-time world record for a woman in the 100 meter dash (10.49 seconds) is longer than the men's minimum requirement for that event to compete in the Olympics (10.18 seconds).

Or, how about a longer event? The time requirement to compete in the men's one mile run in the Olympics is 3 minutes 54 seconds. The all-time world record for a woman in that event? 4 minutes 12 seconds.
