As you have noticed (and we agree), this website is pretty awesome. Why you would choose to not be a member or logged in is baffling to both of us. The process is simple and costs you nothing, unless you really feel the urge to pay then we will not deny you that request. Back on point, once you become a member you will wonder why you put up with this notice all this time and ask yourself, "What was I thinking?" Being a tWebber is too awesome to pass up.
So stop playing ninja trying to act all stealth and lurking about (we see you), do you really want to be seen as a "lurker". Its like you are peeking in people's windows while they undress. How naughty of you. Does your mom know what you are doing right now? She agrees you should just register or login already. Good job.
"'Circumstantial evidence is a very tricky thing,' answered Holmes thoughtfully; 'it may seem to point very straight to one thing, but if you shift your point of view a little, you may find it pointing in an equally uncompromising manner to something entirely different' . . . 'There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.'" --Sherlock Holmes, "The Boscombe Valley Mystery"
Their site actually purports on one recording that "man" played backwards is "man."
They must concede that they only "find" such messages in an tiny percentage of all human speech. The vast majority is gibberish. So if you sift through thousands of hours of garbled phonetic syllables (and especially of "man" said backwards is supposely "man"), if you are extremely subjective in interpretation of what you're hearing, then of course you are going to find blurbs that sound like some phrase or another.
Reminds me of the Bible Code. Works on a similar principle. Given enough text, you find coincidences that spell out words. (Nevermind that biblical Hebrew has a huge number of words that are only 3 letters, and they didn't put spaces between words.)
Thanks for your patience in the thread's I have previously committed myself to. Things are still difficult and topsy-turvy here, and I may actually start work somewhere this week (strong likelihood), so I'll do my best to answer some of those threads! See you in the forums...
When even our Christian leadership has committed to a strategy of compromising on "Do not murder" by supporting judges [like Alito], politicians [like Bush] and rulings that explicitly will kill certain innocent children, it is absurd for us to ask God to bless America. -- Bob Enyart, 1/18/06
It appears to be little more than basic hucksterism at play here to me. If you take a garbled message (such as a regular message played in reverse) and listen to it long enough, you might find something in there that sounds like a meaningful message. Much like if you look at clouds long enough, you'll find some that look like familiar objects. Check out the entry below for "reverse speech" in Bob Carroll's Skepdic Dictionary.
Science cannot investigate supernatural causation for the same reason that you cannot score 5 runs on a single baseball play.
I know what it's like to be sick, but not to have work problems. My RSD is to the point that I can't do any real work. TWeb modding is probably the closest thing I have had to a job, but with...
TheologyWeb was founded in January 2003 as the personal hobby of dizzle, yxboom and their cohort $cirisme. The site is maintained and owned by dizzle, and yxboom. It continues to function by an entirely volunteer Administrative and Moderating team. TheologyWeb does not exist to make a profit or promote a particular denomination or secondary view witihin Christianity, nor is it under the purview of any denomination or church. Our leadership team, consisting of laypersons and leaders within various churches, holds each other in mutual accountability for the decisions of the site, whose decisions are final. With that said, please bring back Invader Zim!
