  • Donating bone marrow

I'm thinking about signing up for the registry though I understand the chances of actually getting called to donate aren't that high. Anybody here actually donated before?

Not bone marrow, but you reminded me that I haven't given blood in ages.

I used to be a major donor, then I did mission work in Haiti, and back in the day, having visited Haiti was one of the reasons you would be prohibited from donating blood.

Need to get back to that!
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

I haven't but I heard it can be painful.

they won't let me give blood or stuff now because of the meds I am on. But I am still an organ donor on my license. maybe they can use some parts after I am gone.

I was on the registry for decades but never got called.

This said bone marrow donation is a whole different thing that it was when I signed up. I have a friend who just received a "transplant" resulting from her leukemia. Now it just involves a IV from a specially prepared donor. (The preparation involves treatment to greatly increase the level of multipotent hematopoietic stem cells in the donors blood.)
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

So the process is something that requires missing quite a bit of work?

I may stick to blood and plasma donations for the time being, at least until I turn regular at work.

          Thanks for the info.

I have a friend who just was treated for Leukemia, they gathered his own stem cells and then nuked his bone marrow, then transplanted back his own cells to reboot his immune system.
