  • Dems: Record low unemployment numbers are a result of Trump's "reckless" policies

Determined to squelch any chance of winning back control of Congress during the upcoming mid-term elections the Democrats responded to the news that 213,000 new jobs were created in June beating expectations by criticizing Trump’s jobs agenda as "reckless." Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 211,000 which is considerably more than double of what is needed to keep up with population growth.

    As the Washington Examiner reported

Source: June beats expectations with 213,000 new payroll jobs, unemployment at 4 percent

Altogether, Friday's report provided evidence that the economic recovery has entered a new and encouraging phase by luring workers into the labor force whom some economists and officials had thought might never return to work.

"They are starting to show themselves, and they are starting to come back in," said Cathy Barrera, chief economist for the online employment marketplace ZipRecruiter.

Yet prospects for workers are only expected to improve in the months ahead. Even before Friday’s strong report, Federal Reserve officials saw the economy as “very strong,” and Chairman Jerome Powell suggested that the labor recovery could persist beyond what was previously thought.

Nevertheless Democrats seem to think this is bad news[1]. Nancy Pelosi issued a statement via Twitter that the June jobs report declaring that this is evidence that Americans are getting a "raw deal" and DNC Chair and former Labor Secretary under Obama, Tom Perez[2] groused this is an example of how "Trump’s reckless policies are hurting millions of hardworking families."

This is similar to the message that the Democrats pushed about Reagan when he ran for re-election in 1984 (in effect, who you gonna believe your lying eyes or us because the economy sucks) resulting in his gaining just under 59% of the vote and a 525 to 13 win in the Electoral College by taking 49 states.

Keep in mind that for Pelosi and other Democrats things like unemployment checks and food stamps are better than creating jobs for the economy saying they provide a bigger bang for the buck

She also said that they "creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name" which begs the question if food stamps and unemployment are better than jobs, as she said, why would you want to create jobs at all? Could it be that she knows what she was spewing is a load of bovine scat?

Still one of my favorite Pelosisms is when she said that people losing their jobs ought to be regarded not as rising unemployment but rather an increase in "funemployment." That's because you should consider yourself lucky to be out of work because

"Now you don’t have to do that job that you’ve hated all along. If you want to go out and paint watercolors in Golden Gate Park and try to sell ’em down in the Tenderloin, you can do it. You no longer have to be a prisoner do a job that you don’t like."

    1. And maybe it is -- for them. A headline from CNBC explains when similar numbers were reported the previous month: The May jobs report is great news for everyone — except Democrats running for office

    2. and who recently proclaimed that socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a "spectacular" candidate who represents the "future of our party"

I'm always still in trouble again

She doesn't acknowledge basic human interest. People are seeking jobs because they want to work. Maybe they have some bigger ambitions than making watercolor paintings in the park.

Pelosi and Perez were referring to a jump in unemployment and slowing wage growth, not an increase in the number of jobs.

There was a slight uptick in unemployment which is strange since we have a record number of people employed:

On Friday, the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics said the economy added 213,000 jobs in June, a strong number; the number of employed Americans, 155,576,000, set its tenth record of the Trump presidency; but the number of unemployed Americans (which includes people who are actively looking for jobs) increased by almost half-a-million. The unemployment rate increased two tenths of a point to 4.0 percent.

As predicted by economists as well as myself numerous times, an improving job market will draw in those who had stopped looking for work (and thereby no longer considered unemployed).

I would think it would be an expected uptick - if hiring increases, job seekers who had dropped out of the market start coming back in. The guy that was too disappointed to bother trying last week isn't counted as 'unemployed' but this week when he's digging through the want adds, he's 'unemployed' - never mind that his actual employment didn't change.

You mean like Pelosi who gushed on about their "spark of divinity" and how we need to "respect the dignity and worth" of these wanton killers? Or Schumer comparing MS-13 to our ancestors who came to America declaring that our "great-great-grandparents" weren't animals when they immigrated here and members of MS-13 "aren't either"? Or maybe Feinstein when she droned on about how they "are our family and friends and they make significant contributions to our country"? To be fair in the latter case Feinstein was duplicitously trying to conflate MS-13 with legal immigrants which in itself is reprehensible.

And speaking of not being good about being truthful, how about this whooper from you?

Yep. You duplicitously pretend that they were talking about MS-13 rather than talking about immigrants. I am getting so sick of your constant falsehoods. Just stop already. You're by far the worst poster on TWeb at just continuously spouting this sort of falsehood, when you've been corrected over and over again, so it's clearly intentional on your part.

The consistent trend in unemployment and major decrease was under Obama. Recently we are hovering around 4 percent.
