Originally posted by One Bad Pig View PostThe prosecution's star witness is not looking especially credible at the moment. So far, he's admitted to lying to a whole bunch of people, embezzling from his boss, and having an affair. We should believe him now (when he's motivated by a plea deal in exchange for taking down his ex-boss) ....why, exactly?
Hoss (I think) is accused of murder, and the testimony of an Indian (Native American) is his only defense.
The prosecution asks the Indian, "isn't it true that you stole a horse from John Wilson...."
Indian: "yes, I did"
Prosecution: "and you also stole a horse from Ben Johnson?"
Indian: "Yes, sir"
Prosecution: "isn't it true that you have stolen over two dozen horses in the past year?"
Indian: "If that's what they say, that's probably correct".
Prosecution to Defense: "your witness is a HORSE THIEF, sir, and we should believe HIM?"
Indian speaking out of turn: "Sir, I am a horse thief, not a liar, I have answered you honestly about everything you have asked".
(though this is actually not pertinent to the matter at hand )The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
