"Well, okay, a few Russians might have approached the Trump campaign, but there was no collusion"
"Well, okay, the Russian government and Putin himself might have been trying to affect the election, but they didn't succeed."

"Well, okay, maybe it had a big impact, but Hillary Clinton was so evil it was good."

It'll eventually arrive at "Well, okay, maybe everyone in the Trump campaign and NRA and Republican leadership was fully colluding with the Russians to rig the election, but we hate Hillary, so suck it libs!"

I guess this thread makes a good point that I left off the "Well, okay, maybe Russia did stuff, but it was Obama's fault" part of the denial-acceptance spectrum.
Over here, we have this silly concept of depending on evidence rather than wishful thinking. You might try it sometime.

Not to mention how FDR liked Stalin so much he affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Joe."
There’s much to like about Truman, but how he dealt with Russia isn’t one of those things. As I recall, most of the famous WWII generals felt the USSR was the next great threat. Right along with Churchill.

I don't understand. Is Truman saying that if you are honest, you aren't smart?

I take it mean that someone can be honest but still deceive you if he's clever. As the saying goes, the closer the lie is to a truth, the easier it is to believe, and if the truth can be used to deceive then so much the better. It's like when a politician says, "I never did X, Y, and Z," which may technically be true, but what they're not saying is that they told one of their subordinates to do X, Y, and Z.

And, don't forget, it depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is.

Well, I have decided to interpret it as "if you're honest, you're stupid".

                The plot thickens...

New documents released by special counsel Robert Mueller related to the invsestigation into former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort list emails sent to Manafort by Thomas “Tad” Devine, the former chief strategist for the Bernie Sanders campaign.

Devine, who also worked on Al Gore and John Kerry’s failed presidential campaigns, exchanged multiple emails with Manafort, Robert Gates, and a Ukrainian man dubbed by Politico as “Manafort’s man in Kiev.

Ironic, since you still got no evidence.

I asked Chuck for evidence in another thread and got nothing but excuses instead.

There needs to be at least some semblance of truth for that to work.

FDR also was known to address Stalin in all correspondences as "My Dear Mr. Stalin" which was, at the time, highly unusual and IIRC he didn't refer to any other world leader in such a manner.

It's very Jorge-like. Simply make an assertion and regard the your claim as all the evidence needed. Then, if pressured, merely repeat the same claim, again sans any corroboration and confuse repeating it as substantiating it
