How does this song fit as something a Christian might listen to?

"O FLEETING SHADOW! Pass beyond the baser stages of doubt and rise to the exalted heights of certainty. Open the eye of truth, that thou mayest behold the veilless Beauty and exclaim: Hallowed be the Lord, the most excellent of all creators! "

I see nothing wrong with it - it's archaic in language but that's not a real problem.

Repeating it fifteen times will lose the 'could praise music please have more substance' crowd - I fall in the middle but this isn't one of the praise songs I find musically interesting enough to put up with the repetition.

It looks like it was taken from a medieval or Renaissance writer and put to music.

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

"Forgiveness is the way of love." Gary Chapman

Sounds rather Gnostic to me, except for the last word, which even they wouldn't countenance. There is only one Creator. The rest of the vaguely anti-material mumbo-jumbo doesn't much matter, but that sticks out.

I recommend you do not try too hard and ...research as little as possible. Such weighty things give me a headache. - Shunyadragon, Baha'i apologist

            Thanks.

Okay, I retract my previous statement - even as P&W this has major issues.

            I think my brain crashed...

I stand somewhat corrected. Some Gnostics (Valentinians) believed in 'creator angels'.
