  • My brother in law had a black lab named Trouble.
Enter the Church and wash away your sins. For here there is a hospital and not a court of law. Do not be ashamed to enter the Church; be ashamed when you sin, but not when you repent. – St. John Chrysostom

That's how we made sure we named our cats good names.

I will be asking for trouble! Just like I always do.

But Trouble is a cool name. It could be prophetic or ironic.

If I name it Jack, my brother's friend has a dog named Jacky already that is always at his house and it could be confusing.
I could name it Jake, but CP has a dog named Jake.

I don't like Zeke. And I like Harpo better than Banjo.

Well, since the 2 Jakes wouldn't likely be within hearing distance of each other most of the time, I think you would be safe in commandeering that name.

Jake has matured, he wants to be called Jacob. Pronounced the Hebrew way.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Leaves that kind of talk wide open for you.

                          Nobody claimed that.

So if I name my dog Jake the Younger, would Jake the Elder be honored or dismayed that such a tiny furball would deign to abscond with his name?

                              He'd be honored.

That's like my idea of naming a dog either Grandma or Grandpa so folks could overhear you saying things like "Grandma! Get off the couch." or "Grandpa! Did you poop in the house again?"

I'm always still in trouble again
