Most of those who ran made me cringe in one way or another. Walker was probably the least objectionable. Pence would be good, but he wasn't in the running last time around.

Pretty much my experience every four years. It's just that this time we ended up with the two most cringe worthy nominees.

I'm always still in trouble again

"You're by far the worst poster on TWeb" and "TWeb's biggest liar" --starlight (the guy who says Stalin was a right-winger)
"Overall I would rate the withdrawal from Afghanistan as by far the best thing Biden's done" --Starlight

But having said that, I have been pleasantly surprised by SOME of what Trump has done. And I admire his attempts to keep his campaign promises even when I don't agree with all of them (like 'the border wall' which I think is a waste and a boondoggle). So many politicians will make many promises before their are elected, only to get amnesia immediately after the election.
I really loathe it when I can't find anything in a post from the mangy pirate that I can disagree with. Makes feel like I need to go take a shower and use a wire scrub brush and kerosene. smiley shudder.gif

As for the last bit, I'll never forget what George Stephanopoulos said on CNN a few years after his boss Bill Clinton was elected: "The President has kept all the promises he intended to keep."

What border wall would that be? How's that repeal and replace healthcare coming along? He did however cut taxes on the wealthy, which hasn't helped anyone other than the wealthy, and he has increased the debt by what, a trillion and a half or so with an expected huge increase in that as a result of his policies. Well he is bringing manufacturing jobs back anyway right? Oh, wait, factories are closing, cutting jobs, and like Harley Davison, moving operations oversea's due to the Trumps war on free trade. Did he promise to do the bidding of Putin and alienate the U.S. from its long time allies? Did he promise to denigrate U.S. democratic institutions and to defend and promote dictators around the world? Which campaign promises that you like has Trump actually come through on so far?

He is still trying, congress is the one blocking them. That he is even trying is what counts for me. Obama didn't even try to keep his promises and outright lied about Obama care.

Wow I guess that means I and the rest of middle class America are "wealthy" then? I am getting $1500 a year more because of his tax cuts.

Along with those three, I also kinda liked Carly. Initially preferred all of those to Trump, and only reluctantly voted for him in the General.

But now, I'm delighted I did. If things continue roughly as they are now, highly unlikely I'd consider supporting a challenger in 2020.

Right, Obama didn't even try to get the ACA passed did he? So whats Trumps dilemma, the majority republican congress?

Ha ha ha, you're Archie Bunker funny, Sparko. About 30 bucks a week, and most are getting much less than that, but then you are losing the same because of his tarrif induced inflation and higher heathcare costs. Glad it makes you feel better anyway!

$1500 is nothing to sneeze at JimL. I guess you being an independently wealthy 1%-er you don't care about us middle class folk. But Trump does.

                        right.

But if he is wealthy, then he is part of the problem he keeps complaining about. He is as bad as Michael Moore complaining about the 1%. He complains about capitalism which he used to get rich.

                        • This one is actually quite funny. Pence is confronted with obvious hypocrisy and starts talking about his hair colour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Durb04AK_B8

It is only a two minute clip. As you will all note, the shining moral star, Pence, does not push Trump for a more constructive way of handling critics. Things have changed since Pence took words against Obama.
"Yes. President Trump is a huge embarrassment. And it’s an embarrassment to evangelical Christianity that there appear to be so many who will celebrate precisely the aspects that I see Biblically as most lamentable and embarrassing." Let's see... Pence wants the the country guided by Republicans, and Trump was the only choice against Hillary.... and Pence had harsh words for Obama, because he was the opposition party......

                            Yeah, I'm absolutely stunned.

It's the double standard problem. But of course you missed that.

Here is another great example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m5tEAm7sjs

I love to listen to Pence's claim that Trump did regret some statements and then knowing Trump continues and continues and continues his name calling. So much for that statement. And by the way: note the extreme number of ad hominems. He is so reluctant to answer a rather obvious question that he need to throw dirt on Hillary instead.

Except we don't complain about capitalism, we are capitalists, we complain about unregulated capitalism which is apparently a distinction that conservatives like yourself just can't seem to process.
