I grew up with guns. Had a shotgun on the wall in my bedroom. Grew up hunting squirrels and rabbits with my dad (who was in the Army so... more guns) - My brother was a cop (retired) so.. more guns. I never really owned a handgun before though. I had my dad's old revolver after he died for a while, but I never shot it, just kept it in the closet as a momento. I gave it to my brother a long time ago. Mostly I shot shotguns. I have shot pistols before at the range with my brother and a few times growing up. So this will be my first real handgun (when I get it).

I mostly want it for sport (target shooting with some friends at the range) but also to keep at home for protection. I seriously doubt I will carry it around in public, but I am getting a permit just in case I ever want to.
