At best they could take out one person (or two if it explodes in their face) before being beat to death by people around them.
The only place I would be worried about plastic guns would be maybe hijackers or assassins (dumb ones) - but those types of people already have access to probably much better made plastic guns. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

I'd speculate that anybody who has the resources to print a 3-D gun would have no problem obtaining a non 3-D gun if they really wanted one."I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Stop Freaking Out About 3D Printed Guns
The Liberator is almost entirely plastic, incorporates one metal piece in it so it can’t beat a metal detector (“follows the rules”), and has a magazine size of exactly one bullet. The barrel is made of plastic too, and imparts no ballistic improvements on the shot, so it’s basically a housing to hold a bullet still while you make it go boom. It’s garbage for a gun, roughly equivalent to holding a centerfire cartridge with a pair of vice grip pliers and hitting the firing pin with a leather punch. You would probably rather bring a knife to a gunfight than a Liberator. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

The fear (and I don't hold this) was that somebody could get a "single use" weapon past security for an assassination attempt. The problem to me is that a professional doesn't need a gun - plastic or otherwise - to pull off an assassination. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

And I posted the link "Stop Freaking Out About 3D Printed Guns" because I concur with the title. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
