    CPAP Machine Side Effects

I've been on this for a couple weeks now. I don't know that I've noticed a difference in my energy levels, although from what I understand that takes time so I'm not concerned about that yet.

There is one side effect I've noticed, though, and it's one I haven't expected: I feel light-headed frequently throughout the day, like that feeling you get where you stand up too fast and get dizzy. Only I get it when I stand up, turn my head, walk...pretty much anything physical. Is this a common consequence of a CPAP machine? I wouldn't think this would come from being more oxygenated than before, but what do I know.

I've been on one for more than ten years. No side effects. Used to be I had to pull over and catch short catnaps when driving long distances. Struggled to stay awake, even with loads of coffee. Not any more.

Been on a cpap almost 20 years. Never experienced that symptom. I'd talk to your sleep specialist about it. It could be that they don't have the settings high enough or that something is faulty with the machine.

As far as the energy goes, the CPAP's not going to save your life long term on its own. You might need to start a mild exercise regimen. The CPAP is just the life line that keeps you from drifting off and into the on-coming traffic.

Possibly it's set to high?...it can cause pressure in the inner ear that could possibly affect your balance.

I too have been on a CPAP for almost 20 years. No side effects, just not worn out all day from the time I get up.

At 77 years of a less than ideal life style, I shan't blame my blood pressure on my CPAP machine. No to mention that my blood pressure excess came before I got on the CPAP.

I was actually thinking maybe his blood pressure went down from using the cpap machine. Usually when I take too much blood pressure medicine I get the "stand up and feel dizzy" thing.

It may be totally unrelated also. I have a friend whose daughter developed something like this in her Twenties. They put her on a thing called a tilt table and confirmed it. She take medication now for it.
