The "blue lives matter" crowd is not out defending this officer so I don't know why you want to keep beating this drum, ff.

Accidents of this type are very rare. They are rare because the combination of factors leading to the accident are rare. We really have to know what factors played a part and how those factors were put in place. Putting your own key in someone else’s door is not uncommon. How does something so trivial lead to a fatal shooting?

But it unlocking their door is pretty darn rare.

As I indicated before, I think even her own police department thinks something is hinky, as they have turned this over to the Texas Rangers. It's not a all unusual for a police department in Texas to turn a case over to the Texas Rangers when they know it's going to be a problem if they investigated it themselves.

Perhaps not as rare as you might think, however. Louis Zamperini (of "Unbroken" fame), while not quite as roguish as you, discovered that his house key also unlocked the high school gymnasium. If you haven't read the book, I highly recommend you do so.

I was very pleasantly surprised, as a teenager, to discover that my mailbox key fit perfectly into the ignition switch of a D9 Caterpillar, which I managed to start up and take for a brief joy ride before Sheriff's deputies arrived to ruin the day.

Of course it happens (there are after all only so many positions the pins can take in a lock) but what are the odds it fits her neighbor's lock.

The same odds it would fit any other particular lock.

So what is the implication here of what you believe actually happened?

Are you asking a specific person or are you using the general "you"?

If the latter, I would say that with the evidence we currently have, there really isn't enough to make a judgment on. I think more is supposed to come out on Monday so I'll hold off any judgment until then.

Generic. The officer's account has been questioned but it's unclear to me what alternative course of events would be plausible.

In other words you agree with most conservatives, on such topics, that we should wait until the full information is available.
