This is an interesting study of the LAPD that found most false accusations were based on avoiding trouble/finding an alibi, positive attention seeking, and mental illness. Revenge or regret, typical of the societal idea of a false rape accusation, were minority reasons. This study from the UK found that only about 1/5 of those reporting a false rape name their rapist. Considering that most good studies looking at what percentage of rape accusations are false arrive at a number between 2-6%, and from these two studies we can say a minority of those accusations name a perpetrator and a minority of those are based on revenge or regret, the rate of false accusations can be estimated to be less than 1%.

Most of them, from what I recall, had the person who was accused actually admit to it.
As of May Weinstein's lawyer was saying he's not guilty.

    • Because of Professor Ford's testimony that she saw Mark Judge working at a supermarket several weeks after the attempted rape, this has allowed people to identify the time period in question fairly well because Judge only worked at a supermarket fairly briefly. Kavanaugh's helpfully provided calendar appears to have a party in the relevant period with attendees listed that Professor Ford recalled being there:

If there was helpful due process, like, for example, the normal FBI investigation that would typically be done into these things that the Republicans are refusing to do, the FBI could do basic checks like see whether the location identified on the calendar (Timmy's house) matches Professor Ford's description of the house, what the other listed attendees on the calandar have to say, whether Professor Ford can herself re-identify the house when shown pictures of houses in a line-up etc. And according to Professor Ford's testimony, Mark Judge is the key person to get under oath and in front of law enforcement, because her testimony indicates he knows and remembers the incident.

Have you missed the high profile cases that were proved false or do you ignore those and only focus on the ones that whisper sweet nothings into your ear? Sorry, but a story where major details are not given and where named witnesses contradict what is told raises questions about the story accuracy. Let me guess, this not about justice at all and just a desperate Hail Mary pass so the Democrats can delay till November, in the hopes they can take the senate and hold onto their power? IÂ’m sorry, but these are red flags and yelling that we need to believe her, without question, because most sexual assault claims are true doesnÂ’t change anything.

Do you have any evidence you’re not a rapist?

These claims have already been refuted, so it's concerning you're bringing it up again. But at least you didn't repeat the (as far as I can tell entirely baseless) claim you made that the letter written by the women from his past was actually pre-written and the women found ahead of time by Republicans. The fact you latch onto the weakest of claims against Kavanaugh makes it clear your bias is so great in this area that any accusation you produce of him is inherently suspect.

The possibly disparate meaning of the things in his yearbook pages is a slightly more plausible thing to be concerned about in this area, but your claim that they were contradicted by his classmates appears to simply be based on a tweet in which someone refers to unverifiable interviews they conducted rather than any actual direct statement by one of the classmates. At any rate, I would actually expect divergence in memory as to what slang from 30+ years ago meant.

Scalia's seat was deliberately left vacant for 841 days, that's what I call a "stall tactic", not the mere 2 or 3 months this time around. Plenty of time to schedule an FBI hearing and still be nowhere near the 841 day mark. You complained about the lack of new evidence, well the FBI is the obvious way to get it starting with Kavanaugh's friend Mark Judge, plus investigation of the new allegations of sexual impropriety. Better now than have further complaints surface during Kavanaugh's tenure on the bench...that would be awkward.

You do realize that they have already been investigated and put under oath don't you? If the Democrats were sincerely interested in having the FBI "investigate" this they would have notified them right away but they didn't because that isn't what they wanted.

And interesting that you don't say anything about Ford's life-long friend who has said the same thing that Judge did as well as the other person Ford named (who you also don't express any interest in).

What is more interesting, despite the politics of FBI avoidance by Kavanaugh and his supporters, is that: “The American Bar Association called on the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday evening to halt the confirmation vote for Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, saying it should not move forward until an FBI investigation into the sexual assault allegations”.

Also, after watching some recaps of today's hearings, it was striking to me and others just how much Kavanaugh talked about how much he liked beer. And then he didn't give a straight answer to the question of how many beers is too many. Then he had an "I'm not a puppet, you're the puppet! You're the puppet!" This Totally Isn't Projection moment where he angrily accused Senator Amy Klobuchar of having a drinking problem when she brought up the topic of his possible alcoholism. It seriously makes me wonder if he continues to have a serious drinking problem in the present day. That could explain his large debts in 2016. A couple of people on the internet I saw suggested his behavior during the hearings themselves today was somewhat drunk, but I'm no good judge of such matters, though his rather aggressive behavior today and bouts of crying could perhaps be explained by him having a few before the hearings. Him having a continuing struggle with alcoholism since his high-school days, and being in denial about it, is a possible explanation for why he refuses to admit to himself and others he had ever been 'blackout drunk' (even though his high-school acquaintances suggest he indeed often was) and perhaps as a result he really doesn't remember incidents such as the one Professor Ford describes due to his inebriation.
