I said nothing about what you feel, MM. My reference was to what you say and how you say it. I think it's fairly clear to anyone reading that you post in a mocking, vindictive, angry, and hate-filled manner. It is certainly evident to me. What you "feel" is not.

By their actions you will know them...

ETA: I'm going to guess that the response will be something about how mocking, vindictive, angry, and hate-filled it is to point this out. At least, that's the usual pattern.
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

I do not think quoting scripture to them is going to accomplish much of anything, as MM's response would suggest. I respect you calling it out, but I suspect the effort is futile.
I hope it is not futile - but I recognize the probability is low. And some of that is my fault. I've also written harsh words and spoken through them in ways I shouldn't have.

But there can be no such thing as 'militant Christianity'. Once it veers into that sort of mindset, myself or anyone else, the person has left Christ out of where they are going, how they are acting. When Jesus forcibly rebuked Peter for wanting to destroy those that resisted Him, when Christ told us we are to love our enemies and pray for those that persecute us, He cut off all of that sort of thinking. And with good reason I think. I mean - even with Christ telling us not to be like that look at all the violence that has been done in Christ's name in the 2 millennia Christian faith has been on the Earth! That part of human nature is very, very hard to change.

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

          Shall we review gentlemen:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

he acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

We are all called to these high standards. And it doesn't matter if the person who encourages us to live by them is the Devil himself, these are still the standards God calls ALL of us to live by.

Even when talking about a person that might be mistaken in the identity of who it was that assaulted her.

My words are only words asking you to live according to the standards you yourselves have sworn to live by. No one made you confess Christ. And no-one made you follow him in the waters of Baptism, a sign of your own choice to lay down the old life and taking on the new. These were your choices. Why then to you mock and treat with disdain the encouragement reminding you of the fact this is how the one we all have said we owe all our allegiance to has said we are to live and act.

The bold part is too often missed by the social gospel crowd who think that ooey gooey kindness is all that love means.

Can you tell me where your kindness was while Kavanaugh was being accused of being a serial rapist as loads of democrats work overtime to totally destroy a man and his family based on nothing more than Unbacked accusations?

It's clear to me that MM is very opinionated - it is NOT clear to me that he's vindictive, angry and hate-filled, or that he posts that way.

(I left out 'mocking', because I think he does, in fact, do that, but that doesn't require it to be "vindictive, angry and hate-filled")
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

The only "Christians" I know like that would have been the Westboro Baptist Church members, and I denounce them loudly, clearly and without reservation.

                      • Buzz I'm hearing:

Ford left a bad impression; Kavanaugh hit a grandslam. Republican support looks firm, but a handful of "moderates" could scuttle it. Either way, conservative voters are looking for payback in November.
