I don't think the Senate and the number of civil wars really has much of a correlation.

Your argument not only fails, but you also fail to understand the purpose of the Senate. It is to give all states equal representation in the Union. So one state can't bully another.
The problem I have is that, absent the first 14 states, along with Texas, Hawaii, Alaska, and maybe Florida, none of the states were really pre-existing entities that joined the larger banner of the United States, they were just big pieces of land that were cut up on a generally arbitrary basis that had little if anything to do with any kind of distinct history or culture. The Senate made perfect sense at the time of the country's founding, when you had all these previously self-governing entities that were coming together to form a larger country and there was a desire for an equal voice among the smalelr ones, but I'm not sure the format works as well for most of the states that were added subsequently because of how arbitrary their borders were for the most part.

So where are the 0.03% Law professors signing a letter opposing this highly negative view of Kavanaugh by their colleagues?

The house has no power here. And they had zero say in Kavanaugh's appointment to the SCOTUS. So how would the election in the house be a result of what people though about how the Senate treated Kavanaugh?
From the same link: “Nevertheless, despite the extreme unlikelihood that a substantial number of Republican senators would join Democrats to remove Kavanaugh from the Supreme Court, if Democrats gain majority control of the House they would wise to launch an investigation to try to determine if charges of sexual assault and lying under oath against Kavanaugh are true or false”.

The investigation is needed because right now the legitimacy of our nation’s highest court is in question. Not only are there still unresolved questions of sexual assault and lying under oath about Kavanaugh. There are questions about his possible alcoholism and about his judicial temperament. All these questions demand answers.”

If he is found guilty public opinion would probably do the rest.

              Found guilty of what, exactly?

There have to be specific charges, Jim, and some of those who made allegations have been proven to be frauds, as well as the porn star lawyer who flat out lied about what his own client claimed.

Any specific charges would arise from the answers to the still unresolved questions regarding sexual assault and lying under oath. Given these concerns, plus questions about Kavanaugh’s possible alcoholism and doubts expressed by nearly 1,000 Law Professors about his judicial temperament require investigation. And, very likely, the large Democratic majority in the House will ensure just that as befitting a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land .

There are no unresolved questions. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has passed several background checks, including a targeted investigation requested by the Democrats in which the FBI diligently determined that Ford's accusations were without merit.

There was nothing “diligent” about it. The FBI Investigation didn’t go very far by design.

“The special background investigation of Brett Kavanaugh involved nine witnesses and bypassed dozens of others named by the accusers Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez”.

“The limited scope of Kavanaugh’s seventh and final background investigation, ordered by President Donald Trump last week under pressure from Flake, was freely acknowledged by the White House deputy press secretary, Raj Shah”.

Why those nine? I'll answer for you: because they were explicitly named by the accusers themselves as firsthand witnesses, making them the most natural starting point for any investigation, and if any of those witnesses had corroborated the accusations or named additional witnesses then the scope of the investigation would have naturally expanded. Instead, the witnesses refuted the accusations or said they had no memory of the incident in question, at which point the investigation is naturally concluded.

To put it another way, if your most credible witnesses say it didn't happen, then it is reasonable to conclude that it didn't happen.

Of course liberals were hoping for another Mueller-like witch-hunt that stretched on for months and months with investigators kicking over every bush looking for anything to pin on Justice Kavanaugh.

But Mountain Man, you are so naive -- there are THOUSANDS of other women who could be persuaded to say bad stuff - and even make stuff up - about Kavanaugh! Shouldn't THEY be heard?

Whether you believe Dr Ford to be a liar or not is irrelevant, that Kavanaugh lied under oath and that he showed a lack of temperment befitting a SC Justice was itself disqualifying. The problem was that those with the power to consent and to confirm were just as lacking in moral character as the nominee himself.
