  • Text from my wife:

They are trying to rip Kavanaugh apart over his high school year book and what he wrote in it... What is the world coming to? Why are they judging him over this stuff? No one will ever pass that kind of scrutiny!

Smart lady. Did I mention she's my wife?

      You married "up", too, eh?

MM is clearly making it seem as if different details are the same details. Or how would you explain it (and your accusations are not explanations, don't forget that)?
MM's statement is something of a reductio ad absurdum, but there ARE a host of details which she can't remember.

Yes, sir. I tell people that I flatter myself when I say I married my intellectual equal, because she's way the heck smarter than me.

But that does not mean that there are not other details she actually could remember (details about the sexual assult (if it actually did happen)). I would not expect anyone who had experienced that to remember all of the more trivial details. MM tried to mix things up in order for there to be a contradiction. There is no contradiction. Whether what she says is right or wrong, I don't know. But she did not contradict herself on that part and making it seem so is unfair.

                • my summary so far:

                  Ford's turn:
Republicans - good questions from prosecutor, trying to get details of event to help determine truth
Democrats - "you are so brave, we believe you! we don't need an investigation to know you are telling the truth!"

                  Kavanaugh's turn
Republicans - yelling at the democrats for their games, agreeing with Kavanaugh
Democrats - "we need an FBI investigation to find out the truth!"

                            • There is a vein within Christianity that has become angry, mocking, vindictive, and more interested in hate than love. It is essentially the same vein that has lined up behind Trump and cheers him on. It is not all of Christianity. Fortunately, I do not think it even represents most of Christianity. But it is present and it's mind is very closed. Perhaps it is "militant" Christianity? It aligns with the Jesus of the money changers and ignores the Jesus of the Sermon on the mount. My experience is that it will not be swayed, and it will cling to its anger and hostility.

I do not think quoting scripture to them is going to accomplish much of anything, as MM's response would suggest. I respect you calling it out, but I suspect the effort is futile.
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong. Frederick Douglas

I feel no anger, vindictiveness, or hate. Whoever sold you those mind-reading pills ripped you off.
