Actually, no; ff is going rather beyond that. He's attempting to imply that any Republican nominee who is accused of rape - regardless of the credibility of the accusations - will get (all) Republican votes just because the GOP nominated the person.

Then that's even worse. If you were to accuse me of this face to face, I'd be quite tempted to knock your lights out. I think this kind of jackassery can only come from the depths of depravity in your own screwed-up mind.

I was very deliberate not to mention Kavanaugh precisely because I do not know the truth of the accusation anymore than you do. The post was not about Kavanaugh in any respect. I did know though that lots of people here would jump to the wrong conclusion. Happily, I do not have a reputation to protect so I can afford to be a little more confrontational than some.

If you insist on putting it that way, some people really need to be trolled without mercy. I am far too gentle a soul for that nonsense.

I just had a thought. Some of you guys are like sharks. You just bite anything that drifts past your snout. That sort of behaviour encourages a person like me to poke it with a stick. Can you really blame me?

Having said that, I feel that, on the whole, I am helping the Christian community here to ‘get a grip’.

I don’t think that either. Everyone makes a contribution. This is a good and valuable thing and we wish to respect our opponents - the honourable gentlemen opposite, and so on. Only sometimes you have to be an animal tamer.

I have no idea why, FF, but I like you. I just think you're really really weird. Maybe that's why.

                              1. Investigate this totally credible accusation
                              2. Send death threats to the accuser
Sadly a lot of them seem to have opted for #2. Professor Ford and her family have had to temporarily move out of her house as a result of death-threats received. Some money has been raised to provide for her protection so hopefully she and her family stay safe.

She has also had her email hacked, and her identity impersonated online.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley has, ironically, been complaining she has not been responding to his emails about the proposed hearings on Monday. At this stage it does not appear those hearings will go ahead. Professor Ford has requested that the FBI do a quick general review of the case prior to hearings, which is standard in these cases (e.g. Anita Hill) and is what's normally done, but requires political authorization which the Republicans are choosing to withhold out of general spite and desire to be jerks.

The co-accused Mark Judge changed his story from "I don't recall" to "It definitely didn't happen" and then the moment it was suggested he might testify under oath on Monday changed back to "I don't recall, and I definitely don't want to testify under oath".

Meanwhile Professor Ford's story has received yet more confirmation as another person has reported they heard about something like this happening at the time.

But since Professor Ford seems unwilling to testify on Monday without the FBI first doing a general review of the case, and Republicans are stonewalling that and pushing for the publicized Monday committee hearing without any FBI review... it might mean Kavanaugh is the only one who ends up testifying on Monday.

I'd like to see your sources for both of these since you often have, shall we say, an "interesting" interpretation of the facts (as we saw with your "600 women vouch for Ford" narrative, when we the truth is that it was an open letter that could have been signed by literally anybody).

As for the FBI, it's not within their jurisdiction because no federal laws were broken. This is a matter for local and state authorities, but since Ford can't remember when the alleged incident happened, where it happened, or who was even at this supposed party, there's literally nothing for law enforcement to go on.
