            • Dianne Feinstein on Kavanaugh Allegation: ‘I Can’t Say Everything is Truthful’

Senator Dianne Feinstein, who held from public view the letter from Christine Blasey Ford detailing an accusation against Donald Trump‘s SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, told reporters today she cannot say “everything’s truthful.”

Speaking to Fox News reporters, Feinstein said: “No one called her, or called her lawyer. My understanding is she got emails. I have no say. I’m the lead Democrat so this is all up to the Republican side.”

              “I can’t say everything’s truthful,” Feinstein added. “I don’t know.

I predict a no-show and a story about how she is afraid to relive the trauma by facing Kavanough. maybe preceded by as much delaying tactics as they can get away with, to put off the vote.
The biggest challenge for Ford, if she testifies, will be reconciling the various versions of her story and her inability to recall key details.

Feinstein is getting senile. Or possibly she was just always this bad, and at age 85, she grew up in a "boys will be boys, women lie about rape" social environment and is just entirely the wrong person to be a senator for modern liberal California in a time of awareness of sexual assault and harassment. Either way, she needs to go in November.

To be fair, her twitter's a bit better, but it's almost certainly written by a staffer who's less senile...
During every step of this process, I’ve found every single piece of information from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford eminently credible, sincere and believable. She knew this would have a huge effect on her life and she was incredibly brave to come forward.

                  • 599 alumnae from Christine Blasey Ford’s high school sign letter saying they support her: “Ford’s experience is all too consistent with stories we heard.”

Nearly 600 women from Christine Blasey Ford’s high school have signed on to an open letter saying that they support her and believe her account that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in high school.

“Dr. Blasey Ford’s experience is all too consistent with stories we heard and lived while attending Holton. Many of us are survivors ourselves,” the letter reads... the letter does not refer specifically to Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh but rather to the experiences of women more generally.

It's also been revealed that in 2015 Kavanaugh joked "What happens at Georgetown Prep, stays at Georgetown Prep":

"But fortunately, we had a good saying that we've held firm to to this day ... which is: What happens at Georgetown Prep, stays at Georgetown Prep," Kavanaugh said, according to a video of the speech. "I think that's been a good thing for all of us."

Kavanaugh's co-accused Mark Judge wrote a book about how he became a blackout-drunk due to the culture of partying at the school:

He chronicled his recovery from alcoholism in “Wasted: Tales of a Gen-X Drunk,” which described his own blackout drinking and a culture of partying among students at his high school

So Kavanaugh himself, his co-accused, and ~600 women from Professor Ford's nearby girls high school, all agree that there was a terrible culture at Kavanaugh's high-school, where bad things happened.

So nothing that directly implicates Kavanaugh. There is, of course, a big, big difference between "We've heard stories similar to what you've accused Kavanaugh of doing," and "Kavanaugh did what you've accused him of doing."

And there's the fact that Ford has told different versions of her story at different times and can't remember key details like where the party took place or how she got there.

                      • Looks like the Democrats are quietly laying the groundwork for a damage control operation...

Source: Feinstein on Kavanaugh Accuser Ford’s Allegations: ‘I Can’t Say that Everything Is Truthful‘

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee and the conduit through whom California professor Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations about Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh came to light, expressed doubts about that allegation for the first time Monday.

According to Fox News’s Chad Pegram, Feinstein told his fellow Fox reporter Connor Marley, “I can’t say that everything is truthful. I don’t know.”

                        • I will say, one thing that seems clear to me is that Feinstein looks really bad in this. Now, there are two possibilities:
                          1) She found the accusation credible. In that case, she looks really bad for not doing anything with potentially critical information until now.
                          2) She didn't find the accusation credible. In that case, her releasing it now is just her trying to smear someone with accusations she doesn't think were credible, which makes her look really bad.

I'm not sure which situation makes her look worse, but neither make her look good.

Hillary: Kavanaugh’s Accuser Deserves ‘the Benefit of the Doubt’

But when it was her husband who was actually being unfaithful....

According to journalist Michael Isikoff, the Clinton campaign in 1992 spent $100,000 on private-detective work related to women. The approach, when rumors first popped up, was to get affidavits from women denying affairs — the reflex of most women is to avoid exposure — and, failing that, to use any discrediting tool at hand.

Hillary was fully on board. When a rock groupie told Penthouse in late 1991 that a state trooper approached her on Gov. Clinton’s behalf, Hillary said “we have to destroy her story.”

                            • And now we have this transparently obvious delay tactic:

Source: Lawyer: Kavanaugh Accuser ‘Not Prepared’ to Testify on Monday, Before FBI Investigation

The attorney for the Palo Alto, California, psychology professor who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault while they were high school students said on Tuesday evening that her client, Christine Blasey Ford, is “not prepared” to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday for a hearing without a full FBI investigation into her allegations.

Lisa Banks, one of Ford’s lawyers, told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that though Ford is “prepared to cooperate with the committee and any law enforcement investigation… in whatever form that takes,” she is “not prepared to talk with them at a hearing on Monday” and “can’t focus on having a hearing” after receiving “death threats” and “harassment” in recent days.

Ford’s lawyers reportedly sent a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Tuesday evening indicating that Ford wants to testify after an FBI investigation is conducted. In the letter, Ford’s lawyers wrote that “a full investigation by law enforcement officials will ensure that the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner, and that the Committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing or making any decisions.”

However, the FBI says that no federal laws were broken, so they're nothing for them to investigate:

Source: FBI: Brett Kavanaugh ‘Allegation Does Not Involve Any Potential Federal Crime’

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said Monday that the FBI will not investigate the sexual misconduct allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

                              [...]

The DOJ ... told a reporter for the far-left Politico, “The allegation does not involve any potential federal crime.”

Furthermore, the Associated Press reports that in a statement, the DOJ said late Monday that “it’s not the job of the FBI to judge the significance or the credibility of an accusation.”

You can hardly accuse the Democrats of playing games given the Senate Republicans refused to consider Merrill Garland when he was nominated by Obama many months before the end of his presidential term. This too worked out "exactly how they wanted it" and now such blatant partisan tactics have returned to haunt them. Moreover, unlike Garland, Kavanaugh has a history which disqualifies him for a life-long appointment to the highest court in the land, especially when it is inevitable that he will have to rule on issues connected with women's rights. His attitude toward women can be gauged by this episode of high school sexual aggression and the attitudes of his best friend and co-aggressor Mark Judge, who has a reputation for sexist attitudes.
