Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s working class credentials are under scrutiny again after she was pictured wearing a $3,500 outfit for a photo-op with construction workers.

Ocasio-Cortez wore a $1990 Gabriela Hearst blazer, $890 Gabriela Hearst pants and $625 Monolo Blahnik shoes.

The outlay on such an expensive outfit left some wondering if such wealth could have been redistributed better.

I have just spent the last 30 minutes digging into this, and so far what I have found is that all of the news stories I have chased are on right-leaning media outlets, and all of the ones I chased trace back to info wars. So it seems to me there are two possibilities: there is a vast left-wing conspiracy to bury this news - or there is a viral outbreak of fake news on the right.

Whichever it is, any story that traces back to Alex Jones is VERY low on my credibility list....

First of all, it's not really "news", and it's just silly to think that the left would actually carry this story, to whatever degree it's true. It's not that there would be a need for a "vast left-wing conspiracy to bury this news" - that's just silly.

I find no reason to doubt the truth of the story - most liberals here defend her right to "dress up". It should be no surprise that "the right" would want to make fun of this, and "the left" would ignore it as not important.

Then there's goofus posters who use it to claim some kind of bogus "irony". I think they probably don't know the meaning of that word.

You DO love to play the "handwaving" song...

When ALL of the reports I can find are coming from ONE side...yeah... I'm suspicious. I'm suspicious when the left does it - and I'm suspicious when the right does it. I'm especially suspicious when all of the stories trace to a source like Alex Jones. IMO, everyone should be. It's like jumping on a story because it was published in Jezebel or Mother Jones.

I did not make any statement about it being "false." I simply noted that I am dubious...and won't take a position until I can find corroboration from either neutral site (rare) or from a left-leaning site. I don't know enough about clothing to be able to make a call based on the images.

If you consider that handwaving...so be it. Note, however, that even the original poster is dubious.
