For the record I do admit that I thought Dobson had implied that HE led Trump to Christ, but he did not. He was talking about Paula White leading him to Christ. So second hand news. And Paula White is one wacky preacher. So...who knows? I think that is why Dobson wrote that letter saying he has no personal knowledge of it.

BTW here is the article I got my information from:

    ---------
Has Donald J. Trump become a born-again Christian?

That is the suggestion of James C. Dobson, one of America’s leading evangelicals, who said Mr. Trump had recently come “to accept a relationship with Christ” and was now “a baby Christian.”

Dr. Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family and one of the country’s most prominent social conservatives, gave his account at a meeting Mr. Trump had in New York on Tuesday with hundreds of Christian conservatives.

In an interview recorded at the event by a Pennsylvania pastor, the Rev. Michael Anthony, Dr. Dobson said he knew the person who had led Mr. Trump to Christ, though he did not name him.

“I don’t know when it was, but it has not been long,” Dr. Dobson said. “I believe he really made a commitment, but he’s a baby Christian.”

Mr. Anthony posted the interview to his blog on Friday. Dr. Dobson could not be reached on Saturday, and Hope Hicks, the Trump campaign spokeswoman, did not respond Saturday to a request for details.

Mr. Trump stumbled at times last year when speaking about faith. At one point he said that he had never asked for God’s forgiveness. And after repeating on the campaign trail that the Bible was his favorite book, ahead of his own “Art of the Deal,” Mr. Trump declined to name a favorite verse. “The Bible means a lot to me, but I don’t want to get into specifics,” he told Bloomberg Television.

Manafort’s flip is a major turning point in the Mueller investigation and he is just one of four Trump close associates cooperating with the investigation. I would have thought this is a fairly substantial burger.

"Then, something happened that would get reported, mostly inaccurately, in perhaps 1,000 newspapers, blogs and media outlets. Because I was recognized by a large number of participants, I began greeting people who approached me. I talked that day to what seemed like 500 people in a 15-hour period ending at 11:30 p.m. One of those well-wishers was carrying a recording device, and he suddenly appeared before me and held a microphone in my face. He asked for my impressions from the day.

I spoke candidly for about 20 seconds, as I recall. Then he disappeared. "

He's denying making an announcement, which was my intended meaning. You may have understood something else.

He also denied knowing about any renewed religiosity: "I can only tell you what I’ve heard. First, Trump appears to be tender to things of the Spirit. I also hear that Paula White has known him for years and that she personally led him to Christ. Do I know that for sure? No. Do I know the details of that alleged conversion? I can’t say that I do. "

Not when the charges have zip to do with the campaign.

He denied making a formal announcement, but admits having communicated that Trump had turned to Christ.
He also denied knowing about any renewed religiosity: "I can only tell you what I’ve heard. First, Trump appears to be tender to things of the Spirit. This is a rather greater stretch on your part; if Trump "appears to be tender to the things of the Spirit", that would indeed be evidence of renewed religiosity. The only thing he's denying here is certainty, which I would expect him to do regardless of the person being discussed.

All in all, this is hardly a "decapitation" - merely your usual picking of nits. You may have gotten a solid hit on that first nit, but it's still a nit.

I guess what you call casting aspersions, is the stating of a fact.

Well, no. You did state a fact, but you and I both know that your intent in doing so was to cast aspersions - or do you pretend that you think Christians doing something makes it a good thing?
