Well James Dobson announced Trump accepted Christ and was now a new Christian back in June 2016. I guess he would have had a baptism around the same time. Dobson doesn't believe in infant baptisms. But my mention of it wasn't to say that it is baptism that changes a person. It is accepting Christ that is the turning point. The baptism is just a ceremony to show your joining with Christ in his death and resurrection.

Well, according to Evangelical and fundamentalist Protestants, anyway.

            Which would include Trump.

I am still not convinced he is a Christian but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his sexual escapades being in the past. I don't think he would even dare something like that while in office, despite his ego. Too many eyes on him. Too many people out to get him.

Lutherans are weird. You drink wine! Couldn't possibly be fundamentalists! (and "Evangelical" Lutherans are flaming liberals)

I can find nothing to indicate Trump did anything other than address a crowd of religious leaders. Nor is there any indication that Dobson made any such announcement - in fact, he's explicitly denied it.

The story of Trump's renewed religiosity seems to be just that - a story, with no factual basis.

read it carefully, He acknowledges he made the comments, but was referring to what he heard, that Paula White led him to Christ. He then goes on to say he doesn't know for sure the condition of Trump's salvation, only God knows but he is prepared to accept it as true.

I said as much myself. I don't know if Trump is actually a Christian. But I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise.

                    Nice try at nitpicking though.

To be fair, I don't consider anyone who claims to be a Lutheran who isn't confessional (i.e one who do not hold to the doctrines taught in the book of concord to be a true interpretation of the Christian faith) to be Lutheran in the first place.

Not only do we drink wine, some of us would also argue lay claim to apostolic succession, and not wholly without reason:

Perhaps you'd consider posting what, in your opinion, in the source is the denial you allude to? I'm not seeing it, but maybe I'm missing something.
