The author of the quote is implying that it is hypocritical to address trump's issues w/o addressing his opponents issues. I would agree partially, except that Trump is always 1 order of magnitude worse than anyone else on nearly everything he does.
Anti-Trump filter duly noted. You do realize, don't you, that you're being hypocritical in your hyperbole here?
My point to him, the quote's author, and as a comment on that quote, is that he is justifying the high temperature on the trump side remaining high because of the high temperature on the other side. My point is that if both sides take that position, the problem can't be solved. So I am disagreeing with the implications of the quote.

    Jim
The opening sentence is not immaterial. He is not at all justifying high temperature on the Trump side; he is pointing out the rank hypocrisy of calling out one side, but not the other, for its heated rhetoric.

If you want your views to be taken seriously, Jim, stop playing the hypocrite. "But Trump's WORSE!!!!1!!1!1!1!!1!!1!" does not justify anything - even if it's true.

OBP, your rhetoric against me is completely illogical. I keep trying to understand it, but so far can't find any logical correlations between the subject of my words and your reactions to them.

The accusations towards me of hypocrite are becoming ridiculous. Instead of discussing the issues with me, you and others when you get mad or annoyed at something I've said just yell hypocrite. It's sort of amazing how it has spread. Sort of like a yawn in a room of tired people. Would you like to try to define exactly where the supposed 'hypocrisy' lies?

“A reporter for Time magazine — and I have been on their cover 14 or 15 times. I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time magazine.” (Trump was on the cover 11 times and Nixon appeared 55 times.)

Oooo! He was off by 4 times! What a lie!

“I cut off hundreds of millions of dollars off one particular plane, hundreds of millions of dollars in a short period of time. It wasn't like I spent, like, weeks, hours, less than hours, and many, many hundreds of millions of dollars. And the plane's going to be better.” (Most of the cuts were already planned.)

“The coverage about me in the @nytimes and the @washingtonpost has been so false and angry that the Times actually apologized to its dwindling subscribers and readers.” (It never apologized.)
        ahem. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/13/u...ve-editor.html

“After being forced to apologize for its bad and inaccurate coverage of me after winning the election, the FAKE NEWS @nytimes is still lost!” (It never apologized.)
see above. They try to make TWO lies out of the same basic statement!

“The failing @nytimes was forced to apologize to its subscribers for the poor reporting it did on my election win. Now they are worse!” (It didn't apologize.)
        Oh look! Three TIMES!

“We had a very smooth rollout of the travel ban. But we had a bad court. Got a bad decision.” (The rollout was chaotic.)
Really? That is a lie? That is a difference of opinion and a complete nitpick.

“By the way, you folks are in here — this place is packed, there are lines that go back six blocks.” (There was no evidence of long lines.)
again, an exaggeration but is it a lie? I don't see any evidence for either view. and again, who cares?

The list is filled with such minutia and straining of gnats to call something a lie.
You're deluding yourself and it fools no one. You can attempt to explain away Trump's lies all you want. The undeniable fact is that U.S. President Donald Trump is a serial liar who appears to exult, if not take pride, in every petty deceit, particularly if it casts him into the glare of publicity or glorifies his massive ego. He lies for the sake of lying even if he gains nothing from it. This is psychopathic behaviour.

“The Washington Post reports that in his first 466 days in office, Trump has made more than “3,001 false or misleading statements,” averaging “about nine claims a day.”

Trump has lied, along with a tsunami of other fabrications, about former president Barack Obama’s birthplace, he’s made false claims about why he did not win the popular vote, he’s stated he knew nothing about payments prior to his election to the porn star Stormy Daniels, and he’s wrongly declared that the U.S. is the highest taxed nation in the world.

Most recently, the New York Times reported that Trump’s lawyers have admitted that the president drafted a misleading statement about a meeting his son had with a lawyer associated with the Kremlin in Trump Tower, though for months he denied it.

He has falsely claimed 72 times that he passed the biggest tax cut in history; incorrectly states that he has eliminated Obamacare; and fallaciously argues that the Democrats were responsible for eliminating DACA (the Deferred Action for Child arrivals that he terminated)”.

        All lies.

When CNN and their ilk are caught making up stories over and over, and creating completely biased stories to promote their viewpoint, then it is no longer news. It is Fake News.
I think what he means to say Sparko is that certain right wingers are either knowingly lying, distorting the facts, or that like ignorant lemmings they are spewing out the nonsense fed to them by their sociopathic leaders.

To the point he makes stuff up constantly. Anybody else you'd be telling them they need to see a psychiatrist and work through it. Consider your reaction to Warren's claims she has Native American ancestry? Trump's exaggerations are Mt Everest vs Warren's Indian Mound, yet you and others have waxed eloquent for how many pages on how bad she is, yet excuse Trump each time!

So in your book it's ok to take credit for work already done by someone else? It'll get you fired from most jobs.

Not a problem? Really? Making up facts that don't exist? Is this not what you are calling Fake News? The above is not just an exaggeration or reinterpretation of the facts, it's made up from whole cloth!

If he told the lie twice does that not mean he lied twice? And look at the second one. He's accusing the nytimes of FAKE NEWS while he's making up stuff?!?!

Yep, he told the same lie 3 times, 3 different ways.

Yeah, its a lie. It wasn't smooth. 'very smooth' != 'chaotic'. If he had an ounce of conscience but was trying to put a positive spin on it, he could have said, 'well we hit a few bumps along the way, but ...'

I care. The man has to lie about everything. What that means Sparko is that if a project is going poorly, He's going to lie about it. If a meeting with a world leader went badly, He's going to lie about it. If a tax cut is going to blow the deficit out of the water, he's going to lie about it. If a tariff is going to decimate a domestic business, he's going to lie about it. If he cheated on his wife, he's going to lie about it. If his advisers are absolutely against his latest policy, he's going to lie about it. Need I go on?

Only as seen by a rabid Trump supporter. What that list means is that we can't Trust anything Trump says about any program, any bill, any executive order, any foreign policy, and news story, any political candidate, ANYTHING he says - ever.

                Jim
See Jim, this is why we can't have a decent discussion. You have gone totally off-the-wall loony left on us. You nitpick everything Trump says as a lie, compare him to being a Nazi, and basically consider him the anti-Christ and everyone who voted for him as deluded followers of the beast or something. It's freaking ridiculous. You have gone over the edge Jim. You hare in Jorge nutjob territory. Welcome to the other side.
