Is this racist, when will Stacy Abrams disavow them?

Members of the Black Panther Party marched through the city of Atlanta, strapped with assault rifles and brandishing Stacey Abrams campaign signs.

In a video posted on the group’s Facebook page on Saturday, members of the Black Panther Party are seen marching through the West End neighborhood of Atlanta in support of Stacey Abrams gubernatorial campaign. As they marched, the Black Panthers carried assault rifles and continually shouted slogans such as “black power” and “power to the people.”

According to what our liberal friends have been maintaining wrt David Duke and Trump, Abrams supports the Black Panthers.

Probably not... So if I go around with a few friends, with guns, chanting white power no one here would call me racist - correct?

I'd imagine pro-gun people would love this, even despite the Black Panthers mixed reputations. It was originally black people reaching out for guns, and being seen visible in the streets with guns, as a deterent to the massacres that had occured against them, such as the one in Florida.

As for whether 'black power' conveys the same meaning as 'white power', that's a rats nest I'm not touching with a ten foot pole.

Left-wing black-seperatists, with a penchant for socialism and later communism? A leader that later ran off to Cuba. A couple of note worthy and name-taining violence cases. A movement that was largely spent by the seventies? I'm quite aware they have a spotted history Sparko. But that doesn't mean the beginning wasn't good. The later ties to Nation of Islam, and a complete veering off into Communism is what taints it in my eyes.

The Black Panthers were needed at the time they came on the scene. Mostly in response to such things white people murdering up to a hundred and fifty black people and destroying an entire village in Florida. People could kill black people, and all-white juries let them go, even if they went on trial. So a movement of self-defense for black people makes perfect sense.

God made man, but Samuel Colt made them equal, as the saying goes.

There are a lot of failed movements out there Sparko. Take the Objectivist movement founded by Ayn Rand, a person who many evangelical Christians consider a personal inspiration - they turned into an authoritarian cult, quite unlike Rand's own philosophy.

If I'm to take pro-gun right people seriously, I'll do so when they celebrate this picture here. I mean if gun-rights are good, and guns as a means of self-defense is great, and guns protect the people from tyrannical governments, and open-carry is a good thing, then there should be nothing wrong about this.

Funny how a group concerned about racist violence taking place in more rural areas originated in and were focused on Oakland, California, a large urban area where blacks were predominate and not a minority

My convictions favor expansive gun rights, including "Constitutional carry" even of "long guns" and "assault" rifles. However, my "feelings" would not favor people of any color brandishing them in such a confrontational manor. Even something so simple as carrying them slung over a shoulder would make a significant difference.

For consistency check would you also tell open-carry activists to carry their guns slung over their shoulder? If you do, then I'll grant you're being consistent.
