Actually - your comment made me wonder. In 2018, $5.2B was spent on the elections. Of course, that was for 468 congressional seats plus all of the state elections. Maybe 5,000 people total? So about $1 per "product." The annual expenditure for advertising for all of the U.S. is about $71B. I wonder how many "products" that advertises. I have to believe we have a lot more than 71,000 products advertised and sold.
Bottom line - product-for-product - election campaigns seem to be high on the "expensive" list.
