How about putting feet on our prayers and at least trying not to let nutcases have guns? How about putting feet on our prayers and at least trying to make sure that weapons of significant power to inflict mass destruction can't be picked up by Joe crazy at a gun show? We clearly have too many crazies among us to be worthy of unrestricted access to modern guns. We have a right to bear arms. I'm not sure that translates into a requirement to allow crazies unrestricted access the the tools needed to massacre crowds of innocent people.

Its complex. I support gun control, but the US in a particular situation. Any attempt at gun control is going to be a long, slow, affair. You'd need to gradually make owning certain types of firearms illegal, and punishable (if they were kept in a configuration that allowed them to be fired - a solution would be to weld in a metal cylinder into the shaft).

At each step of the way you'd have people disagreeing about this. I mean as we saw in another thread here gun rights are more important to many Christians here, than the lives of the unborn children, or on the same level.

    Which frankly still shocks me.

It is illegal to own extended mags in California. California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, yet this still happened. Itís almost as if gun laws are only followed by law abiding citizens and totally ignored by those who could care less.

How about we wait a day or so before we politicize a horrible event. I will wait a day or so, when we have more information on the gunman and what laws he may have broken already to get the guns, before I discuss with you some of your more foolish statements.

For now my prayers and thoughts go out to the victims and their families with a hope they can deal with this tragedy.

I'll get back to you after we have more information about this tragic incident. It may be after Monday as I'll be away from my computer visiting my Mom and Brother over the weekend.

Unfortunately, when a thread like this is started in civics, it seems to invite gun control debate. Perhaps threads like this should start out in 'memorial gardens' or 'prayer requests' or some place that gives some modicum of reverence to those who were killed or injured?
