Jim, 65 of the 67 counties in the state of Florida apparently had no major problems. The biggest headache seems to be in Broward County, which is headed, not by a Republican, but Dr Brenda Snipes, a Democrat. While you try to twist this story by calling her "Republican appointed" - it was, as I pointed out, Jeb Bush who appointed her, who is also now calling for her to resign. She was an abject failure.

Thankfully, she seems to be agreeing with Jeb - "A day after Jeb Bush called for her to resign, Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes said "it is time to move on" from her role overseeing the Florida county office".

None of which are anywhere as large as Broward county and so don't have the same problems. Love the way you forgive decades of republican control of any responsibility, but hey, par for the course.

The main incompetence in Broward seems to have been the design of the Ballot which may have cost the democrat candidates some 20,000 votes which obviously ended up benefitting the republican candidates and most likely cost Nelson his senate seat to the crooked, thieving, republican, R. Scott. So all the complaining by republicans makes you look like even worse whiny little .......'s than you are already known to be. That they are still counting ballots there is not a big deal, they are still counting ballots in California and Arizona as well. And btw, the democrats keep winning those races too.

Your assumptions are just ignorance. For one thing I'm not blaming Snipes, because like you I don't know enough about the situation to point my finger at her. But I can point it at the republican governors since the system itself, as well as the supervisors are under their control. If Snipes is incompetent, then so are the republican governors that appointed and left her in that position for 16 years. And no, we don't scream RACIST simply because a black person is fired or shot by the police, that's just the kind of accepted nonsense that helps some people to be more accepting of their own racism.

Lemme help educate you on election stuff again, Jimmy.

Jeb Bush did, in fact, appoint Brenda Snipes to her post in 2004, because her predecessor, Miriam Oliphant, was suspended for bad conduct.

WHY did Bush fire the BLACK FEMALE DEMOCRAT Oliphant?

Government investigators found that not only had her office neglected to perform some of its most essential tasks, but it had gone almost $1 million over budget. Among other findings was that Oliphant fired many experienced staff members, and replaced them with an all black and less (in some cases not-at-all) experienced friends and associates with significantly higher rates of pay.

She hired a college admissions representative who didn't even know what a primary election was and put her in charge of registration and absentee ballots. She promoted a computer specialist, whom she'd met in her condominium building, to deputy supervisor.

One of the most questioned of Oliphant's personnel decisions was that of hiring a homeless man, Glen Davis, whom she met at the same shelter as her sister, who is also homeless. Davis, who was given mail room duties, failed to process over 300 absentee ballots for a 2002 primary election. His performance notwithstanding, shortly before her removal Oliphant gave Davis a $5000 raise.

Due to Oliphant not hiring enough poll workers during the same 2002 primary, precinct voting locations had to open late and close early. All this was intolerable to Broward residents who had not forgotten the county's handling of the 2000 Presidential Election.

After APPOINTING Snipes to her position ---- now hold your seat for this part, Jim --- she was ELECTED by your Democrat colleagues to continue in that position.

Bush gave her a chance, and DEMOCRATS kept her in office.

With South Florida again in the national eye on races too close to call and troubles in counting and re-counting votes, so, too is the supervisor of elections.

Broward Supervisor Brenda Snipes took office 15 years ago after the governor suspended her predecessor, Miriam Oliphant.
